Not a manny fan at all but I LOVE how the red sox fans rip him to hell now because because he had issues with management. Is manny the smartest guy in the world? not at all. Was he a great team mate? nope. But last time I checked you have to go all the way back to 1918 to see the last time boston won the world series. How many great players have passed through boston since then? YAZ, WILLIAMS, FISK, RICE and no world series with those guys.

Manny is so dumb and out of it that I bet that if he didn't have an agent and negotiated his contract on his own, that he might have demanded a clause in the contract stating that if he got caught using PEDS and was suspended, that he wouldn't be docked any pay.

Manny could not have been more loved when he was here. He could do no wrong in the fans mind, including me. Unfortunately he screwed the team by quitting and turned his back on the team, organization and fans because 20 million was not enough. Unless you live up here, you have NO CLUE how much of a god Manny was ..... Until he turned on all of his greatest supporters. Fuck him, he gets what he deserves and it couldn't happen to a nicer guy!

One other point:

I don't think this will affect the Dodgers much at all. The NL West is atrocious. It has only four teams (huge advantage) and two of them are run by morons. 85 games would win the West. Even without Ramirez until July 1, the Dodgers should still win at least 95.

Also, the Dodgers will likely be a big buyer when all the trades occur this summer

Manny played on some great teams in Cleveland. How many titles did they win with him? That would be a big fat zero. It is a 25 man roster and some pretty good pitchers named Pedro, Schilling and Beckett were just as valuable. Manny needed Boston to get a title just as much as Boston needed him. And he was paid VERY WELL for his services.

All I can say is that relationships can and do change.
I have been a Red Sox diehard and I mean diehard since 1952.
I have seen many players come and go-some great and some lousy.
I loved Manny when he was here until last year and was very much against managment dumping him when the talk came up from time to time during the last few seasons.
Last year, he went overboard, assaulting a clubhouse person, claiming he was injured when he was not, having a general deteriorating shit attitude and not giving his best effort all of the time;all of this affected the team in many adverse ways.
Thus, as it is many times in life in general, it was time for the team to move on and for the Sox and Manny to part company.
In short, Manny felt he was bigger than the team, and thak god management realized it and did the right thing.
