Give me a break! It has nothing to do with being brilliant. Manny quit playing last year. Plain and simple. He had to move Manny. He was a cancer. He was a liability off and on the field. "Theo" had no choice. He didn't dump Manny. Manny dumped the Sox. You make it seem as if Theo pulled off some blockbuster trade. He was trading arguably the best player in baseball. Jason Bay at 100% is far better than Manny at 25%

As I said/alluded to in another post in another thread, I feel Sox may have had an inkling that Manny was using drugs last year in addition to the stuff you mentioned.
In view of what has happened, it looks like a brilliant move by Theo in retrospect made a "brilliant" move even if he didn't suspect the drug use.
As I stated in the other post, in view of what has happened, who are the Sox better of with now-Jason Bay or Manny Ramirez?

My top three would be Maddux, Griffey, and Santana

I would be equally surprised if any of them ever tested hot.
