These conferences need to stop these conference tourneys. I think its bullshit that you have teams that didnt compete all fucking year & then they get rewarded with 12 losses to play for a conference title?? then 1 of the shit teams gets hot, knocks off 4 in a row and plays in the big dance and others wind up not making it in because of that.

I disagree...teams play for this thing and this is their reward...if you can't rise to the top in your conferenece tourney then where do you go from there? Its not like its football where there is a one game championship...teams deserve IMO to go to the dance if they rise in their own tourney..Its a tough debate no matter what. there is no clear cut way we can all be happy with who gets in and who is out all of the time...I think Ariz should of been left out...but it is what it is!

I think you answered your question. They didnt get punished for playing in the Conf Usa, they just lost to the only good teams they played all year. With Georgetown being awful, Cuse on their home floor, and Xavier, is well, Xavier. Plus they had numerous close games against those awful teams that they play. That is what the committee sees and other teams play those those games every week whereas memphis plays a few teams early and then coasts all year. They are not that good this year.

There are those who will agree & disagree, which is great. I really havent seen who got in via conference tourney wins or at-large bids, as I have just glanced over quickly. My point is if teams (no one in particular) cant perform during a 20 game regular season conference schedule, then why should they get rewarded with a bid into a conference tourney??

Good teams will always be left out and bad teams will always get in.

I agree for the major confrences but teams like these below that get in because they win their confrence tourney isnt fair

They are basically Div II teams in my eyes and should have their own little tourney:

                RADFORD
                MORGAN ST
                STEPHEN AUSTIN
                NORTH DAKOTA ST
                BINGHAMPTON
                CHATANOOGA
                EAST TENN ST

THESE TEAMS DO NOT BELONG IN THERE

NONE ARE EVEN CLOSE TO THE BEST 64 TEAMS IN THE NATION !!!

They beat Zaga and Tennessee, but I guess those aren't good teams. As for the numerous close games against awful teams, I think they only had 2 or 3 single digit victories within C-USA all year. They won 25 straight, during which they beat Tenn. and Zaga, find me another team in the history of CBB, who won 25 straight at any point, not even to finish the season, AT ANY POINT who didn't get a one seed.

As for them "not being that good this year", that is entirely your opinion, however I disagree completely. Winning 25 straight wherever you play is difficult, and certainly no fluke. I'm not going to make you think they're good, you have your mind made up, but this is an elite team at the worst, and can certainly make the F4, but time will tell. These kids deserved a 1 that's my take.

Ok...I understand your point...we just can't win this argument...Baylor is a good example of this...underachieved all year and they almost had an automatic bid...

I am not arguing your point. But when you play teams that are not even in the top 150, who really cares how you did. And now Tenn is a good win? I will give you the Zags but my point is that most teams have to grind out 15 or 20 games against teams like tenn and better. So they had to play hard a couple times over the year. Memphis is no threat to anyone this year.

yep all 15 and 16 seeds I think....none have a shot right..I think no 16 seeds have ever won and a 15 seed if it happened I am not aware of it..14 seeds last recollection for me is Hampton over Iowa St --there was probably another one after that?? or was hampton a 15 seed????? Pretty sure they were a 14. Anyhow I guess that is the reward for playing in D1...how can you tell them that they can't get in the dance..I understand what you are saying but it would be hard to lock these guys out.

Two things, no team is playing 15 or 20 games against teams better than Tennessee, is Tennessee great? No. But no one is playing 15 20 games against teams better than them, that is a severe exaggeration.
"Memphis is no threat to anyone this year"..... I'll bump this thread when they make the Elite 8, you can do the same when they lose wherever they may. This team is extremely talented, and more defensive than last year. The only drop off from last year IMO, is that they're bench is not as deep. Saying they are no threat, IMO, is a bit outrageous.

IMO, there needs to be a few less teams in D1 and by a few I mean about 150 less. That would solve some of these problems

I like the new format with the NIT---if they kept it the same from last year...it made sense..IMO--Teams will be left out of there too! They had a third tourney last year...I think it was like 8 teams...are they doing that this year as well?
