I agree! I have noticed that as well! I take that into consideration when I get my line through my local..again, ithink its a good tool....
thanks for putting these up.. I will try to help post this when i can.. i'm often on the road and make difficult.. As for tonight.. ironicclay enough the dunkle pik is IU.. which is where i'm heading to see the game.. i know they suk this year, but thqats a whole differnt thread...
It'll be interesting to see where this all points after a month. If it shows us anything, we'll add this to the trends thread as a daily deal.
UDOG... What do you think when you see the College Funds pick and then read the Dunkel line and see it contridicts the college fund pick?
DZ,
Usually, I'll lean toward the College Funds opinion. Like you, I just use Dunkel as a comparison tool. I try to keep in mind how hit-and-miss they can be in any given week. I mainly use them to compare with what I project for a game.
The guys who write College Funds are putting in a lot more work on individual games. A lot of times, I'll be reading the article and it'll seem like they must be about to pick one side. Then, when you get to the pick, it's the other way!
Dunkel was sure a little less than spectacular this week. When that happens, they very often have a great next week. We'll see.
Do you think we should add the running totals to "PODs" and "Others" for the next few weeks? It might be useful to watch how they've done since the start of this.
Week 1 Total Play of the Day: 2-5 (lost Pistons/Celtics under 180)
Dunkel Overall
The following results, for Sunday, are based on opening lines of the games that were on the board when Dunkel posted.
Dunkel Overall 3/1/09 - week's running total in parentheses:
NBA sides: 5-4 (26-37-2)
NBA totals: 4-5 (37-34)
NCAAB sides: 10-14 (122-100-2)
NHL sides: 1-5 (25-29-1)
NHL totals: 4-2 (23-22-1)
Others
Start Date: 2/23/09
As of 3/1/09:
NBA Pick 'n' Roll: 11-3 (sides 9-1, totals 2-2)
NCAAB College Funds: 6-5
NHL Ice Picks: 6-6-1 (sides 2-3, totals 4-3-1)
Udog, I see the NBA Pick 'N' Roll total for Sunday was graded
as a win. The writeup had the total as 207.5 (loss) however
Scores and Odds shows the total closed at 205.5 (win).
I'm not meaning to dog you, just curious on how you grade
the plays. Thanks for all you do here and I really enjoy this
tracking thread.

Thanks for keeping a close eye out! You're right, of course. I should have shown that as a loss. I was using Scores and Odds and must have looked at the wrong line (closing). We grade against the total or spread posted by Pick 'n' Roll, College Funds and Ice Picks. The same is true for Side of the Day and Total of the Day.
For Dunkel, we grade against the opening lines of the games that are on the board when Dunkel posts. If a game is not on the board at the time Dunkel posts, we do not track it.
