Saturday's List of 13: Random thoughts on a winter night......

      13) It is easy to say none of the Steroid Era players deserve to get in the Hall of Fame, but what happens to Cooperstown if there is a six or seven-year period where no one gets inducted, which could happen if the ARods/Clemens/Sosas of the world don't get elected to the Hall. They're going to have to let those guys in, at some point.

      12) But Pete Rose should get in before any of the steroid guys.

      11) Does the Stock Market take a lunch break? Seriously, I have no idea on this-- when do they eat lunch?

      10) Trump Entertainment declared bankruptcy this week; how in the name of Art Schlichter does a casino go broke?

      9) Is it possible New York City high school basketball is overrated? There isn't one decent college hoop team in all of New York-- where are all the good players going? Are there that many good players?

      8) This is totally random, but prostitution should be legalized. Who does it hurt? Lot of revenue to be generated there.

      7) Johnny Damon, Xavier Nady are having trouble paying bills due to their accounts being frozen in the Stanford Financial debacle.

      6) Bengal, Jaguar coaching staffs coached in the Senior Bowl, which gives them an advantage on Draft Day- they had a more upclose look at the players they coached.

      5) Suns scored 141 ppg in first two games of the Alvin Gentry era, and everything looked rosy, until Amare Stoudemire injured his eye and had to have an operation, which puts him out eight months.

      4) 881 car dealerships closed in this country last year. Not good.

      3) Interesting series of articles in Washington Post on hoop program at Maryland, which regressed badly since they won national title in 2002. Seems like Gary Williams is above schmoozing with coaches in AAU, which is a big part of recruiting these days, so Terps get left out in recruiting the best players, even ones in his area.

      2) Hard to believe Kansas City Chiefs had ten sacks in all of 2008.

      1) Pitt basketball coach Jamie Dixon appeared in TV commercials as a kid; he is going to get offered a boatload of money by Arizona after the season-- I think he stays with the Panthers.
