  • How does Big Ben not win MVP?

What more could the guy have done to help his team win the game? Managed a great game, engineered a game-winning drive, and made arguably one of the greatest throws in SB history to cap it off. He made one mistake the whole game, and it wasn't a HUGE one. I am not taking anything away from Holmes, great game, great catch. In SB XL Ward was definitely more deserving than Ben. But in a game that panned out like this, and Roth's GW drive, that was virtually at one point 90 yards, he did everything right, and still comes away empty handed (except for that Super Bowl Ring ).

He and Bob Greise are the only two QBs in history to start and win two Super Bowls and never come away with an MVP.

I agree. While Holmes made a great catch on the game winning TD and had some other nice catches, every play that Ben made on that last drive was crucial. No way anyone else should have won it but Ben.

Also,Holmes did redeem himself but 2 plays before the big catch he let one go right thru his hands that Ben put right on the money.

The 'catch' will be remembered throughout history, not the throw. Sometimes MVP's are given because of one single play. There's no doubt that was an MVP type 'catch.'

That's very true, but I think its hard not to give it to Ben, especially after that GW drive, my views may be skewed, however, I had Ben at +200 to win MVP.

Ben had a decent game. Made up for the weak game he had in the prior Superbowl. But, he couldn't get it in the end zone several times against a weaker defense. And Warner had a much better game against a much tougher 'D'.The final drive was against a spent 'D'. JMO. The Superbowl was won with that 'catch.'

Of course, having $200 on Benny for MVP will cause you to see it differently. No doubt I would....

I don't think anything is being taken away from Holmes catch but IMO a few plays before with the game on the line Ben made a great throw and Holmes dropped it.If that would have been 4th down and the Steelers lost we would see that drop on replays for a long time. Then Ben does his job again and makes a great throw and Holmes catches it that time.I just think Ben handled the pressure on every play and Holmes handled it on just one(a very big one)

I would have like to have it co-MVP Ben-Holmes. Had no bet on either of them. Great game. Too bad first 25 minutes of game was boring as hell. It's almost as good as Giants-Pats game. Which also was boring the first half. Until next season fellas. Lets go METS. Peace -Oneluv-

totally a one play MVP, but I have no issues with it. It was a marvelous catch (throw too), and they may not have won the game without it. That and I can't stand Big Ben anyway.....fricking drama queen.

It was kind of a 'one play' MVP. But Holmes had 131 yards on 9 catches, not exactly a weak game. The catch he missed was not an easy one to catch. Ben rifled it and Holmes was completely extended on the play...... and Warner had 121 yards more passing yards than Big Ben against a much better defense. I see the Ben should win it defense, but Holmes wasn't a bad choice....

I don't get how you guys keep calling it a one catch MVP. Holmes was a huge part of that whole drive. That 40 yard catch and run that brought it to 1st and goal was HUGE with 1:02 left. He also caught a 14 yard pass on 1st & 20 and a 13 yard pass on 3rd & 6 in that drive to go with the amazing catch to win it. Holmes had big catches in almost every drive. It was a nice last drive by Ben but none of his numbers in the game stood out at all.

I'm not catching your point on Warner having a better game. The dispute is between Holmes and Ben, I don't see how Warner has anything to do with it. Fill me in on what ya' mean there kaz.
