Sounds about right. Penn is moving from a smaller weight division and trying to gain weight for this fight. That means his opponent will be able to work out more and simply cut water to make weight this is typically a bad sign for a fighter going into a fight. From what I know about Penn he fights comfortably at both weights however seeing as this is his first fight back at the higher weight he may not have the compensatory muscle-mass to hold off St Pierre.
I dont like laying this much juice but playing St.Pierre is probably the better bet. Look for Penn to tire near the middle of the 3rd round. I expect St.Pierre to be smart enough to lean on Penn causing him to have to hold off the weight and tire allowing St.Pierre to push the action without opening himself up.

Im not comparing sherk to GSP. Im just saying what a motivated Penn looks like. Dont get me wrong if GSP wins this fight i would not be shocked at all. But I do like Penn in this fight.2010: 23-12 +37.8
2011: 4-0 + 20
09-11 5*s and up: 34-7

GSP is the unreal. Got a good stand up game. He is well conditioned fighter. If the fight stands up GSP will win. But BJ Penn is motivated. He thought he won the first fight, but he didn't really train for the fight. He lacked conditioning. He came to our Gym, and he looked good. Our guys trained and did cardio with him. Every round a fresh guy comes in and spars with BJ. He hired a condition trainer and he motivates BJ. I think he takes this fight to the ground. If the fight stays on the ground, he wins hands down. But if GSP can Sprawl and counter Penn, it will be a long night for BJ. It will be great fight no matter what.

hey chunger this is going to be a good one buddy, but i gotta tell you i disagree with mark here, i really like GSP to win here, actually the play is already in for me, so i might as well post. i got gsp at -175.
IMO the weight will not be an issue IF as if mark said BJ really trains hard, he has fought at 4 different weights including 205. I honestly think even if bj is training his hardest, gsp is training just as hard if not harder, and i feel gsp can control where the fight goes, which is the biggest key to a win.Last edited by MR Pain; 01-27-2009, 12:20 PM.
