Yeah, the Braves have done a bang up job this offseason, huh? Threw their name in the ring for several guys, but came completely empty. I dont' blame Smoltz. There is no loyalty in sports any more on either side. He knows his run is almost done, why not go to Boston for a year, making twice the money, and actually play games that matter. The Braves will suck this year and won't be playing any meaningful games past the all-star break.

No kidding...hey Jerry I know its tough went through this same shit when you have problem of this nature its all or nothing there is no in between in this and until you realize that you cannot be an ocassional drinker things will NOT change...not trying to be harsh or anything just letting you know from myself and similar siutation of lifes experiences....I really hope the best for you and are in my prayers daily...take care man and like I said you have my email if you even want to gimme a shout....

I have always been a big smoltz fan but i'm not sure he can help out much at his age. Boston is reminding me of the Yankees when they signed Brown & Pavano by signing old or hurt pitchers like Penny & Smoltz

Boston is the 3rd best team in their division right now and nothing they have done this off season has excited me.
