    Ice Picks: NHL Bets
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pittsburgh Penguins at New York Rangers (-130, 5.5)

The Penguins' frustrations boiled over during a 6-1 loss to the Florida Panthers Saturday. Star center Sidney Crosby let his emotions get the best of him, trying to pick a fight with the Panthers' Brett McLean. However, much like Pittsburgh's past two months, that tussle didn't go as planned.

The Pens have won just eight games since mid November, getting their most recent victory on Boxing Day. They've lost four straight games heading into Monday and have scored just seven total goals during that skid. Those poor efforts have turned once-loyal fans against their home club. Pittsburgh was booed off the ice during Saturday's loss in Mellon Arena.

“You could have said it was dangerous a long time ago," defenseman Brooks Orpik told reporters. "I don't think you need to say it just now. I think, maybe, only a certain amount of guys realized it, but it's pretty clear in the minds of all the guys that's it's a pretty dangerous time."

Thankfully, Pittsburgh is on the road for four of the next five games. The Penguins still have a winning record away from home, going 11-7-0-2, but those two shootout losses came in Madison Square Garden against the Rangers.

    Pick: New York -130

New York Islanders at Edmonton Oilers (-191, 5.5)

The Islanders might have got a little too much sun on their western road trip. Now they trade the heat of Phoenix and San Jose for the frigid temperatures of Alberta. New York is in Edmonton for their third game of its four-game road stretch after dropping the opening two contests.

The Isles are coming off a 5-3 loss to the NHL's best team. They allowed the Sharks to pepper goaltender Joey MacDonald with 46 shots. New York allows more than 32 shots against this season and has given up 10 goals in those past two games.

Edmonton has scored four goals in each of its last two games. The Oilers snapped a two-game skid with a 4-1 win over Dallas Saturday.

    Pick: Over 5.5

That wasn't the case earlier in the season when the Spurs were routed 99-83 at home by the Heat. Parker sprained his ankle early in that game as fell to 1-4. "I don't know what it is," Duncan said at the time. "I don't know what to say." San Antonio has won 14 of 19 since November 28th when all three were finally back on the court together.

Heat : Miami already has three more wins than all of last season thanks to the resurgence of star Dwayne Wade, who is leading the NBA with 28.8 points per game. Wade did it again in helping the Heat rally back from a 16-point deficit against the Nets on Saturday, scoring 29 points and blocking four shots in a 101-96 overtime win. “In the second half, Dwyane Wade displayed his dominance again,” Nets guard Keyon Dooling said. “He carried them to the mountaintop. He’s incredible. He’s amazing.”

#8 Georgetown at #10 Notre Dame [ESPN | 7 PM ET]

Georgetown: Defense continues to be the key to success for the Hoyas. They are 10-0 this season when holding opponents below 45 perent shooting and 0-2 when they do not. One of those losses came Saturday against Pittsburgh, as the Panthers shot 47.1 percent from the field and broke Georgetown's 29-game home winning streak with a 70-54 victory. “That’s the nature of this league - to a certain extent this year, you have to bounce back,” Hoyas head coach John Thompson III said. “You’re going to have to figure out what to take from it and immediately focus on what’s ahead of you.”

Road team is 10-4-1 ATS in the last 15 meetings.
The UNDER is 13-4 in Georgetown's last 17 road games.

They have lost five straight meetings with the Hoyas, and Harangody is averaging just 9.7 points on 28 percent shooting and 4.3 rebounds in three career games. Harangody is coming off a 28-point, 14-rebound effort in a 71-65 loss to St. John's on Saturday. Notre Dame is 1-2 when failing to reach 70 points this season.

Notre Dame is 0-5 SU in the last 5 meetings.
