The TV Contracts from ESPN & Fox are not even a 1/8 of what the NFL gets too. Most teams have deals signed with their local Sportschannel stations or something to broadcast games but the money is not what you would think. These places that never fill up will never get the money they need. The tv contracts might, might cover the 30-50 million payrolls but expenses are tremendous for travel, park employees, field maintenance and every thing else. Scouting, GM's and everything. All that stuff needs to get paid with ticket sales and when you add it all up, it is easy to see why most teams can't compete.

It goes without saying that if the Yankees and the "best team that money can buy" falls short next year, it will make me as happy as it would be if the Sox were to win the WS.
Also, if Sabathia, CC or Teixeira fall short of expectations for ANY reason(read into that what you want to), it will be a double blessing and serve Cashman and Steinbrenner's wannabee offspring right!Last edited by savage1; 12-24-2008, 02:11 AM.

Now you want Obama to save baseball? Put Barney Frank on it, he did such a great job at Fannie and Freddie
Obama will be to busy trying to save the universe
Its up to the fans to stop supporting this crap, that is the only way.NBA is a joke

I say it is time to change baseball and for someone to enact some real tough rules with teeth to bring some parity back to baseball.
