The Patriots will put the Franchise Tag on Cassell and trade him for some nice draft picks at seasons end. That way, he doesn't go to a division opponent like the Jets and they get something in return for him.
I was never a big Cassell fan. Has he played pretty well? Sure, but he also had 4 years to study this offense and when he got the call, he should have been prepared and comfortable. Unless the team he goes to signs Josh Mcdaniels as the coach, Cassell could struggle in a new system that he does not know. Either way, he cashed in his lottery ticket this year for sure!

How can you not give this guy credit. Sure he "had four years to study this offense" but fellas-this is the NFL. Not to mention he had ZERO experience at the position to begin with (including college). Sure, Cassell could struggle in a new system but don't you give him the benefit of the doubt before you call him out? And you could use that argument with any QB leaving one system and going to another. I don't buy it. My hats off to him for an unbelievable year at Quarterback in the NFL.

Nobody is not giving him credit. I said he played well in a system he knows like the back of his hand. He also got to lead a team that went (16-0) last year in the regular season and (18-1) overall.
How many QB's get to step into that situation? Not many, but ALOT would succeed. He had a pretty good/great team around him along with a great front office. This worked out perfectly for Cassell and he took advantage of the chance he was given but don't be fooled. I've watched every snap this guy has taken in 4 years and a new place may make him look average again.

Average again? This is the first time we have ever seen this kid play including college. I could be wrong but I just don't think any average QB can step into that role and be a huge success only because he has a strong supporting cast and "knows the system". Its not like he hands the ball off everydown. This guy throws 24-30 passes a game...and completes most of them. Agree to disagree Wayne.

He also had 3 "Big" games this year @ Sd, @ Indy and home against Pittsburgh. They were blown out in 2 of them and lost all 3, and Cassell looked below average in those. He looks great with all those weapons against Oakland and Arizona but when he plays a real defense, they make him look a little foolish. What do you think happens when he goes to a team with no weapons, no pro bowl line and a new playbook? Think what you want but i don't think he will look anything like he does here.
