Congrats to Pedroia. I would have voted for Mauer, but Pedroia is a great story and had a great year.

I am really glad he won.

I like many sox fans follow the team closely. I can honestly say I would have bet my life savings on pedroia winning a batting title before an MVP. The guy is a gamer. Youk had an amazing year as well. Congrats to dustin well deserved. people will say well he had a great lineup and papi and manny batting behind him......my answer to that is well you still have to produce day in and day out and he did just that. MVP no doubt about it.

i know what you mean. I thought he was going to be another Jody reed....lol I mean you could tell he had the heart and desire and had a good glove but i for one never expected him to produce like he did day in and day ouy

i would have given it to CLIFF LEE the numbers that PEDROIA had is just normal numbers for anybody, they are not real MVP numbers, lets get real here, you all are saying its good for him but you tend to forget you are all REDSOX fans and you are supposed to stand up for your guy no matter if he deserves it or not

All the voters were far from Red Sox fans. What's their excuse?

It seems glaringly apparent that you have not watched a Red Sox game all year sea if you think Pedroia was an average player.

Anybody who watched Pedroia day in and day out, whether he was a Red Sox fan or not, saw a player who got many, many key hits and made many great plays;he did so many things to win ball games.
Without him the Sox would probably not have made the playoffs.
When you consider Ortiz was injured for a good part of the year and even when he played, did not put up his typical numbers, Pedroia's stepping up to the plate(along with Youkilis) bigtime was a huge factor in the success the team had this year.
Yes I admit I am a Sox diehard and have been one since 1952 and might be a little biased.
Also, I do feel that it is immaterial whether his stats in a relative sense were up to what some of the other MVP winners did in other years(eg Yaz in 1967);it is what he did THIS year relative to other players.
Thus, I feel the voters got it right and the margin-Pedroia for MVP.
ps Cliff Lee had a great season and was deserving of the Cy Young but MVP, no way.

                            Jockey Up!!

He defintely deserves the award. He stepped up when others were hurt or had an attitude. I look at the Bosox end of the year starters, and there were several names I barely knew. Good players, but not pennant winners.

The Sox owe their post season to him. Without him, they would have had Yankee like numbers.
