Four to seven games of the same team and players physically beating on each other. The demand physically is overwhelming. The electricity is unmatched at any other sporting event.

All that being said the sport has lost its luster. The game has changed for the worse. Jacques Lemaire, the Devils ex-coach is the primary reason. His coaching style and the play of the Devils in the mid-90s changed the game. They slowed the game down with lots of clutching and grabbing. Lemaire's Devils team played the left wing trap to perfection. It completely changed how the game was played. Hockey became a total BORE. Limited scoring. The skilled players weren't able to display their athletic ability.

Over the past few seasons, thankfully the NHL has taken strides to return the game to its skilled players.
              Amen.

Avery is annoying as hell, but plays his role exceptionally well in getting under the skin of opponents. Rutuu is the same way. He played a nice little role agitating the Hell out of people and scoring some surprising goals for the Pens during their playoff run. He is dead to me now as a Senator, though.
