Alright, last night I'm watching E:60 on ESPN and they do a story about the hockey player Avery.I didn't catch his first name.Dude looks like a bad ass, seems like he fights in every game and then they show him at a clothing store matching up purses. The guy goes to fashion shows and admits he dressed up dolls as a boy instead of playing with toys. Now my question is he made a statement that the president of the NHL don't know how to market there players so they have to do it thereself. Is this just a publicity stunt or do you think he really likes women clothing.I will say he got my attention and I promise you he is the only name I know now in hockey. He might be on to something.

His name is Sean Avery. He plays for the New York Rangers. He is one of those pesty get in your face and stir shit in the corners and in front of net type players. He is definately considered and NHL tough guy who fights regularly and gets a ton of penalty minutes every season. As far as that show you seen last night LVJimmy also mentioned something about that in my NFL thread today and I had no clue about that feminin side or whatever. I have heard a lot about that E60 show but in Canada we are unable to get ESPN. The only way a Canadian can have ESPN is from satelitte only. We do get it in whats called the Super Sports Pack where it will pick up a feed of ESPN for the duration of a game and that cut off the feed immediately once it ends. However we cannot watch any of the other programs that air on it other than game time only. As far as the marketing aspect of the NHL I cannot really comment on it as Gary Bettman is the commissioner and a lot of people do not like what he does. For whatever reason the way he markets the game does not attract Americans audiences but I can tell you that in Canada NHL and hockey in general is as big as football for you Americans. I wish I could have seen that program about Avery matching purses and dressing dolls because like I said he is a tough dude on the ice so that is strange to say the least. Maybe I can see it on youtube or some shit thats is ridiculously funny and strange..SOBER SINCE MARCH 28TH OF 2007!!!

hey chado, and vols Avery is now with the stars in dallas. i really have never heard anything about dressing up dolls or being gay but as chado already stated. "tough dude" is almost an understatement.
the guy is like 5'9 not even 200 pounds and he sticks his nose wherever he wants and will throw with ANYONE. I mean anyone. he has thrown with peters on buff, brashear on philly, laraque on pitt, neil on ott. i mean if you can think of a "fighter" in the nhl he has fought them with no hesitation, he actually instigates it most of the time, and boy does it work. I have never seen a 4th line guy get under a whole teams skin.
I used to be a goalie vols and i can tell you there is only 1 other person i would rather not deal with in front of the net. actually Holmstrom and avery would be tied for first.
usually a guy that just throws every game usually doesn't contribute much more, but that is what you have to love about avery. he works his way up from the 4th line to the 3rd and even 2nd as well as the power play last year. last 3 years he's got 27,20, and 33 goals.
gettin ready for hockey hey vols
