It didn't matter once Brady went down who was there. Just like if Manning, Brees, E Manning, Big Ben, Delhomme, McNabb or any other top QB gets hurt.
When Brady went down you might as well have thrown Moss on the IR with him.......dude was 10 yards behind the Jet defense and Cassell fired up a duck..........guy is a joke of an NFL QB.

    PEACE

Geez .... Who was the last backup to replace a Pro Bowl QB that got hurt in season and lead his team to a SB? Hostetler?? It simply doesn't matter.

No doubt. Half the starters in this league are a joke and they are starters. What's their excuse?

I think Cassel will come around, no doubt a tough game last week but it was a team loss not a QB loss!
Nothing is as far away as one minute ago.

They have a decent team who with a decent backup QB can win some games.....unless something drastic changes and Cassell can get the ball to his playmakers the season is lost.

Same can be said for the Colts if Sorgi is the backup......that guy has been on the bench for years and if thrown into a game now would still look like a brand new rookie...all the while a team like Tampa Bay has multiple comepetent QBs.

            PEACE

90% of the teams in the NFL do not have a shot at the Super Bowl....big mistake by the Pats not having someone somewhat respectable. Guys like Kerry Collins and Griese weren't that expensive I dont think and Im sure I can name about 5 others if I looked at rosters.

              PEACE

The drastic change needs to come on defense 1st. Be critical of them. They looked alot more foolish against Miami than Cassell did. Did you even watch the game?

As far as point 2 goes, great. So 1 team, Tampa Bay has multiple QB's? 1 of what, 32?

GL finding 5 QB's on any bench that can lead a team to a SB. Even in Garcia's best backup year in Philly, he didn't get it done.

Ill like my chances alot better if Garcia was leading the Pats instead of last year's Eagles is my point.

Why? The Eagles and their West Coast offense was a perfect fit for Garcia and he knew that offense. New England doesn't run that and it would take him a month to learn the playbook. Looking good in Philly, in a familiar offense is not comparable to N.E. (IMO). Why do you think Garcia chose the TB Offense?

You act like Garcia would have signed with anyone. Remember, he didn't sign with Philly BECAUSE HE DIDN'T WANT TO BE A BACKUP. He was the starter in TB, not a backup. I'm sure he would have had no interest backing up Brady either, a guy who hasn't missed a game in like 6 years.

They went to camp with Cassell and Guttierez is my point......if they had planned for the worst before the season started and had a competent backup they wouldnt have had to worry about learning the playbook....looking at NFL rosters I would rather have any of these backups instead of Cassell.

Brunell, Carr, K Collins, Feeley, Frerotte, Frye, T Green, Griese, Grossman, Harrington, S Hill, B Johnson, Leftwich, Lemon, Losman, J McCown, P Ramsey, Rosenfels, C Simms, B Volek, Culpepper.

New England is a perfect situation where a QB can get by without doing much and Cassell just seems incapable and quite frankly poor planning by the team to have as a backup for the preseason SuperBowl favorite.

Cassell is really bad. I'm thinking about taking the 9ers +3.5, Moss mailed this season in. Maroney is worthless. Gore and O'Sulliven versus Sammy Morris and Cassell getting points at home, you be the judge

Ronny, Brady has not missed a game in like 6 years so spending alot of money on a backup made no sense and all those names you just mentioned are an ABSOLUTE JOKE!

I can't even believe, that you believe, any of that horseshit with those guys. Please .........

I still respect Bellicheck more than Martz when given two weeks to plan and I still believe they have to find some way to just launch the ball up to Moss on offense. Mike Martz is a jackass with his gimmick offense and his 7 step drops and thats why he always gets his QBs killed. As much as the Pats look weak on offense I dont think I could back the Niners since the Pats had two weeks to get ready for him.
