I agree with both sides on this issue(no I am not a politician).
Yes the stadium should be a lot fuller than it is.
However, as I stated before, my wife and I while in Florida in April(Disneyworld) made the trip to Tampa(actually St. Petersburg).
Now rememebr-this was at end of April when no one knew how good the Rays would be.
Getting to the stadium was easy-thats the good part.
The badpart is that the stadium is way out in the boondocks, and we were wondering if we would ever get there.
The place is in the middle of nowhere and I mean nowhere.
We arrived at the stadium before it opened, and my wife had to use the lady's room.
Well we walked all around the stadium, and we couldn't find a gas station, restaurant, etc. and she had to wait for the stadium to open;in all fairness, it was our first trip there, and we don't know the area-perhaps there were some places, but we didn't see them.
Returning to Disneyworld after the game, we both commented how desolate this stadium seemed;I commented that I finally understood why the Rays wanted a new stadium-CONVENIENCE!
That being said, I assure you that if the same conditions existed for the Red Sox, the games would still be all sold out.

I just don't get these excuses.
Like Tampa is the only city where it's inconvenient to go to the game?
People go to sporting events if they care about their team. Those that don't go don't care. They aren't fans.
Baseball has record attendance this year; why isn't gas prices killing everybody else.
This afternoon, over 15,000 drove all the way to Milwaukee to see the Cubs play. The cheapest seat was $25 and you had to pay to park (the top two decks were closed). Those people are fans.
The Rays players deserve better than fans who won't go to a game because they have to pick up their kid from school.
What is going to happen if there's a world series??????? Are they still going to make excuses???
And.......how come they don't show up on a Saturday when none of the excuses come into play.
Admit it: these are rotten fans.

This is why you can disregard the rest. Nobody supports a last place team and nobody ever will. Tampa has never been shunned for that. 99% of people support a winner though and it's not April anymore and they are leading the division. Of course in April they expect the same. It's August, September ... October?

Yes, every game played in sports is on tv. People still support their teams and they go for the atmosphere of being at a big league ball game and a night out.
The whole 1 hour + drive thing is pretty sad too. If you live more than 5 blocks from Fenway it is an hour + drive too. So what? Parking is $40 and the ticket is $100+. So what? The price of gas is another copout. They are 1 of only a couple teams in all of baseball that offer free parking. In other words, take that money and put it in the gas tank. Hearing these reasons time after time is really pathetic. Let's face it, that is not a MLB area. They can support the 5 thousand seat exhibition games but that's about it. There are true fans of baseball that love to be there once in awhile and there are people who are casual fans ... like in Tampa.
