They deplete the depth at the TE position. Boss may turn out to be good but to judge him on his performance in 5 games is crazy. He was a 5th or 6th round choice for a reason...not to say he won't pan out, but there is a reason he went that late.
Shockey may have a big mouth and may drop some, but Manning likes to throw him the ball...and he had to be accounted for by the defense. He set up mismatches in other areas.
