He isn't stupid, he knows he would have to win some tough fans over in Boston. Griffey is not bad but i don't care what anyone thinks, Bonds puts the fear in opposing pitchers. On steroids or off, i have never seen a guy at the plate more feared than Bonds. There was a 5-7 year stretch where the guy refused to swing at a ball and when you dared to throw him a strike, he crushed it. Even last year, they pitched around him a ton and his numbers were VERY good for games played. Put him at DH and let him avoid playing left and i think he stays healthier and has fun with that very short right field line in Fenway. He could go the opposite way and pound the wall all night long. He would be feared in the middle of that lineup and even though most wouldn't admit it, they still agree!
Exactly. I agree that Bonds would be a tough sell to the RedSox nation but I think if he comes in without an ego and reminds people that he's there to hit and win a championship. he'll be accepted after his first 2-2 2 walks, 1 double, 1 home run and 4 rbis game. The guy can flat out hit, and I think it will come down to New York or Boston with this being his last opportunity to play in the playoffs.

Griffey is past his prime, if the Sox need to fill the hole that papi's injury created it will have to be with someone that pitchers fear or they can forget about repeating.

I would be totally shocked if Sox even considered signing him let alone doing it;they are a class organizationand fully realize the obvious inherent drawbacks and dangers of putting him on the roster.

I don't think he'll sign with the Sox either, but they would be foolish not to consider him depending on the extent of Big Papi's injury.

The yankees on the other hand are not a class organization and I think he'll be a Yankee before September.

Good-let the Yankees have him;he would be a disruptive force, fit right in with lowlifes like ARod and probably guarantee Yanks don't make the playoffs.
In my opinion the negative intangibles of signing Bonds far outweigh anything positive he would add for most teams.

            Bonds and Chemistry, so appropriate.

Start being shocked then because Boston has already had him workout for them. It is beyond considered when they work him out.

As a huge Sox fan, I hope it happens. Love him or hate him, pitchers work around him. It also give the Yankee fans another reason to hate the Nation.

Would be great to see a Cubs-Sox Series with Bonds popping one up over the Pesky Pole in game 7. If we win again, lets do it at The Fens. Bonds increases the chances greatly imo.

If they put out a line on the Sox signing him or not signing for this season,I would make a fairly sizeable bet against it.
If they do sign him and I am completely wrong and he leads then to another WS, I would gladly eat my words!

To play Devil's Advocate, who's to say that even if he wasn't a cancer or distracton, he could step right up in middle of season at age 44, not having played all year, and start producing at a respectable clip?

if he doesn't step right up and resort back to his old form at the plate, well then.... you'll have the option of pinch hitting with the all-time home run leader.

As a Sox fan, if they sign him(which I doubt), Il hope he will contributes
My gut feeling though is that all things considered, at this stage in his career, he is not a good fit here.

I agree. All this "Chemistry" talk is a bunch of CRAP!!!

All i heard about was the Big 3 with the Celtics and how they have never played together and how they will all want the ball and have no chemistry. How did that work out?

I also heard 100 people here last year tell me that Randy Moss would be a cancer in New England and kill their chemistry. They fell short in the bowl but 16-0 and the best offense in history, along with several records? How did that work out?

Chemistry is the most over used and abused stupid line in sports (IMO).

I think chemistry goes a long way with less talented teams, but give me talent over chemistry everyday of the week
