Boston Red Sox at Philadelphia Phillies [7:05 PM ET]
Red Sox: Jon Lester is pitching well since throwing a no-hitter on May 19th, going 3-1 with a no-decision in his last five starts. Over that span, Lester has allowed 10 runs in 32.1 innings of work. Lester hasn't been the same pitcher away from Fenway Park, however. In seven road starts this season, he's just 1-2 with a 4.71 ERA. Since his no hitter, the OVER is 3-1 in games with Lester on the mound.
Red Sox are 1-7 in their last 8 games as an underdog.
Red Sox are 9-2 in the last 11 meetings.
Key Injuries - 1B Kevin Youkilis (.305; back) is questionable.
PROJECTED SCORE: 5 (OVER - Total Play of the Day)
Phillies (-115, O/U 9.5): Like a fine wine, Jamie Moyer keeps getting better with age. Moyer is 6-2 with two no-decisions over his last 10 starts, with the Phillies emerging victorious in eight of those games. He's been dominating on the road but just average at home, going 3-2 with an ERA of 5.53. The Red Sox must be happy to see Moyer on the mound. He's just 6-11 with a 6.69 ERA in 20 career starts against Boston. The OVER is 6-2 in Moyer's last eight starts.
Phillies are 6-0 in Moyer's last six starts.
The UNDER is 8-1 in Philadelphia's last 9 games following a win.
Key Injuries - NONE
PROJECTED SCORE: 6
Chicago Cubs at Tampa Bay Rays [7:10 PM ET]
Cubs: Ryan Dempster has gone from having a surprising season to making a case to be the NL's starting pitcher in the All-Star game with an 8-2 record and 2.82 ERA. In his last 10 starts, Dempster has only lost one decision and given up more than three runs twice. He's been exceptionally tough in his last 26.1 innings pitched, allowing just nine runs. Dempster has seven career starts against the Rays, going 3-4 with a 4.50 ERA
Cubs are 16-4 in their last 20 games overall.
The UNDER is 8-2-1 in Chicago's last 11 interleague games.
Key Injuries - OF Alfonso Soriano (.283; broken hand) is out at least 6 weeks.
PROJECTED SCORE: 3
Rays (-145, O/U 7.5): Scott Kazmir has been a beast since coming off the DL, going 6-2 with a 1.74 ERA. Kazmir has allowed one run or less in five of his eight starts this season. Hitters might as well take the day off when facing Kazmir at Tropicana Field where he's 4-0 with a ridiculous 0.35 ERA. Kazmir's last two outings haven't been great but both came on the road, where he allowed five runs over 14.1 innings after giving up just two runs in his prior 33 innings of work.
Rays are 21-5 in their last 26 games on field turf.
The UNDER is 12-4-1 in Tampa Bay's last 17 games overall.
Key Injuries - OF Carl Crawford (.265) is serving the final game of his 4-game suspension.
PROJECTED SCORE: 5 (Side Play of the Day)
New York Mets at Los Angeles Angels [10:05 ET]
Mets: Johan Santana takes to the road, where he's 4-3 with a solid 2.80 ERA on the year. The Mets ace has been his typical dominant self in his last three starts, giving up just three runs in 20.2 innings of work. While Santana has been successful against most teams he's faced, the Angels aren't one of them. In eight career starts versus Anaheim, Santana is just 2-3 with a 4.05 ERA. The UNDER is 4-1 in Santana's last five starts.
Mets are 8-1 in their last 9 interleague games.
The OVER is 10-4 in New York's last 14 interleague games.
Key Injuries - OF Moises Alou (.367; calf) is on the 15-day DL.
OF Ryan Church (.300; concussion) is on the 15-day DL.
PROJECTED SCORE: 3
Angels (-125, O/U 7): John Lackey has been spectacular since coming off the DL in mid-May. Lackey has allowed two runs or less in five starts this year. Control has been key to Lackey's success so far in 2008. He's struck out 32, while walking just eight in 44.1 innings pitched. Teams are batting just .208 against Lackey in his three home starts. Don't expect a lot of runs with Lackey on the mound. All six of his starts have gone UNDER the total.
Angels are 16-5 in their last 21 Tuesday games.
The UNDER is 14-5 in LA's last 19 home games.
