    Tips and Trends
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We will update when projected scores are available.

Boston Celtics at Cleveland Cavaliers [ESPN | 8 PM ET]

Celtics: Boston point guard Rajon Rondo came of age in Game 5, totaling career highs of 20 points and 13 assists in his team's 96-89 victory. “He was definitely the X-factor out there,” Cleveland's LeBron James said. "20 and 13 with 1 turnover - that speaks for itself. Without Rondo tonight, it would have been a much tougher game for them. He was definitely the player of the game." Whether or not he can come close to that t type of performance at Cleveland though remains to be seen. Rondo has 14 points and 6 assists in both road games combined.

Celtics are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 road games.
Celtics are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
The UNDER is 15-6 in Boston's last 21 games vs. Central Division.

    Key Injuries - NONE

    PROJECTED SCORE: TBD

Cavs (-3, O/U 178.5): James had his most dominant game of the series so far in Game 5, although most of the damage was done in the first half. He scored 23 of his game-high 35 points in the first 2 quarters and was held to a basket in the third quarter before coming alive again in the fourth. "We start off well, but we go through a lapse on offense," James said. "Tonight it was the third quarter. They made us turn the ball over. They came down and scored, they got us on our heels, and we were down 12. You can't go down 12 on the road, especially in a place of this magnitude." James will likely need to carry the scoring load again with Daniel Gibson sidelined with a separated shoulder.

Cavs are 7-2 ATS in the last 9 meetings.
The UNDER is 7-2 in Cleveland's last 9 games as a favorite.
The UNDER is 7-2 in Cleveland's last 9 games vs. Atlantic Division.
Key Injuries - G Daniel Gibson (10.4 ppg; separated shoulder) is OUT.

    PROJECTED SCORE: TBD

Los Angeles Lakers at Utah Jazz [ESPN | 10:30 PM ET]

Lakers: LA went 17-1 during the regular season when all 5 starters scored in double figures and accomplished that feat for the first time in the postseason in Game 5. The Lakers will likely need that same kind of balance in Game 6 as Kobe Bryant continues to be bothered by a bad back. Bryant scored a series-low 26 points in Game 5 on a series-low 10 shots from the field but continued to get his teammates involved, dishing out 7 assists.

Lakers are 8-2-1 ATS in their last 11 games overall.
The OVER is 10-4 in LA's last 14 Friday games.

    Key Injuries - NONE

    PROJECTED SCORE: TBD

Jazz (-4, O/U 213): Utah definitely feels like it has a major edge at the point guard position with Deron Williams against either Derek Fisher or Jordan Farmar. Williams totaled 27 points and 10 assists in Game 5 and played very well despite 4 turnovers. He enjoyed his best performance of the series in Game 4 at home with 29 points on 9-of-13 shooting and 14 assists, and he has made 21-of-22 free throws in the last 3 games combined. The ability of Williams to get Carlos Boozer involved could also ultimately determine whether or not there is a Game 7.

Jazz are 9-1 SU in the last 10 meetings at home in the playoffs.
Home team is 10-3-1 ATS in the last 14 meetings.
Jazz are 7-3-1 ATS in the last 11 meetings at Utah.
The OVER is 23-8 in Utah's last 31 games vs. Pacific Division.

    Key Injuries - NONE

    PROJECTED SCORE: TBD

Pick 'n' Roll: Friday's best NBA bets
        ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

        Boston at Cleveland (-3, 179)
Like many great superstars, you knew it wasn't a question of whether Kevin Garnett would bust out again, but rather when he'd get back to form. It didn’t take long.

After three subpar outings – by KG's standards anway – Garnett dropped 26 points, grabbed 16 boards, dished out four assists, and added three blocks for good measure in Boston's Game 5 win over Cleveland. Even more encouraging for Celtics bettors was that Paul Pierce chipped in with 29 points and Rajon Rondo added 20.

That said, it's obviously been all about home teams in these playoffs and the Cavaliers aren't backing down a bit. LeBron James had a big night with 35 points in the club's latest loss, but didn't get much help from the rest of Cleveland's cast and still managed to keep Game 5 close.

The Cavs will bounce back with a better effort tonight.

        Pick:Cleveland

        L.A. Lakers at Utah (-4, 212)

It's great to see Deron Williams stepping up for the Jazz - the silky smooth point guard has racked up 56 points and 24 assists over the last two games. Now if only he could get a little help, especially from Carlos Boozer inside.

Boozer basically won Game 3 for the Jazz and has been solid on the glass, but he hasn't cracked 20 points in any other game in the series and was just 6-for-16 from the floor in Game 5. It wouldn't hurt if Andrei Kirilenko did something either shy in the paint, too. Then again, those seem like the numbers we can expect from the big Russian at this point.. AK-47 hasn't done better than 15 points against the Lakers while being

One of those guys has to match Pau Gasol's output as the series shifts back to Utah.

        Pick: Lakers

Hot Lines: Friday's best MLB bets
                          ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New York Mets at New York Yankees (+124, 8 1/2)

Welcome to interleague play. It would be criminal if we didn't touch on the greatest interleague battle of them all - well, at least that's what the media tells us it is. Neither the Yankees nor the Mets have a winning record at this point, they're both in the bottom half of the league in runs and batting average, and there's a couple of disappointed boroughs because of it.

But the Mets have one clear edge in this game and its name is Johan Santana. The big lefty came over from Minnesota in the offseason, so he has plenty of experience against the Yankees - and most of it has been positive. Santana has a 6-3 record against the Yankees, including a 4-1 mark at Yankee Stadium.

That's a much better resumé than New York's Darrell Rasner. He'll be making his second start of the season and just his first career start against the Mets.

                          Pick: Mets

                          Cleveland at Cincinnati (-122, 9 ½)

These teams just aren't just close in terms of the proximity of their ballparks. Since interleague play began in 2004, the head-to-head record between these clubs is 10-10 and they split the series straight down the middle the last two seasons. So it's not a stretch to imagine this one will be tight as well.

Both teams are coming off sweeps in their previous series, but Cleveland is definitely the hotter team right now. They went five games without allowing a run before having the streak snapped yesterday in a 4-2 win against Oakland. The Tribe's bats haven't been as potent as they'd like, but they'll have a good chance to get some good rips against Johnny Cueto who has struggled mightily after a hot start to the season. Cueto has allowed 20 earned runs in his last four starts.

                          Pick: Indians

Pirates: Tom Gorzelanny had his troubles early on in the season, but he's righted the ship of late. In his last 3 starts, Gorzelanny has only given up 5 runs in 17 1/3 innings pitched, going 2-1 over that span. Gorzelanny has already faced the Cubs twice this season, and he hasn't gotten out of the third inning in either start. In 5 innings pitched against Chicago this year, Gorzelanny has given up a disastrous 14 hits, eight walks and 12 runs. Five of the 7 games that Gorzelanny has started this year have gone OVER the total.

Santana is familiar with the Yankees from his time in Minnesota. He dominated the Bombers in his one starts against them last year, allowing just two runs over 7 innings in a 6-2 Twins win.

Kuroda got a no-decision in his last road start at Florida on May 1st, as he gave up 3 runs and 5 hits in 7 innings of a 5-3 victory. His previous 2 road starts both resulted in losses.

Saunders was the tough-luck loser at Tampa Bay last time out on Saturday, as the Angels could not muster a run in a 2-0 loss. He allowed just 1 run and 4 hits in 6 innings of work, walking 4 batters and striking out 3. The Angels had won each of his previous 7 starts.

Jazz (-3.5, O/U 212.5): Utah definitely feels like it has a major edge at the point guard position with Deron Williams against either Derek Fisher or Jordan Farmar.
