        Tips and Trends
        ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Los Angeles Angels at Boston Red Sox [7:05 PM ET]

Angels: LA's Jon Garland will try to turn things around against the Red Sox, who have hit him hard during his career. Garland is just 3-5 lifetime vs. Boston with a 5.53 ERA, and the Sox are hitting .291 against him. He lost his last road start at Seattle back on April 12th, giving up 6 runs and 12 hits in 5 innings with 1 walk and no strikeouts.

        Key Injuries - NONE

        PROJECTED SCORE: 4

Red Sox (-175, O/U 10): Boston's Daisuke Matsuzaka has gotten a lot of run support at Fenway Park in his last 3 starts, as the Red Sox have outscored the opposition 24-8. That's been plenty to get him wins each time even though he has not pitched a full 6 innings in either of his last 2 outings. Dice-K is 3-0 at home this season with a 3.71 ERA.

        Key Injuries - NONE

        PROJECTED SCORE: 6

Philadelphia Phillies at Milwaukee Brewers [8:05 PM ET]

Phillies (-140, O/U 8.5): Philadelphia starter Cole Hamels has been a workhorse this season, pitching 7+ innings in all 4 of his starts on the season. The southpaw is supporting a stellar 1.86 ERA over 29 innings pitched. However, Hamels did allow 5 runs in his last start against the Mets on April 18th and called it his “worst performance” of the year. The San Diego native hasn’t received a decision in 2 career starts at Milwaukee, but he has allowed 8 runs in just 13+ innings of work of those 2 games.

        Key Injuries - NONE

        PROJECTED SCORE: 4

Brewers: Milwaukee starter Dave Bush has been abysmal so far this season, posting an 0-3 mark with a 7.02 ERA in just 3 starts. Bush said he “felt good” in his last start, but with his 7+ ERA he is in danger of losing his spot in the rotation according to team insiders. The right-hander allowed 5 earned runs in just 5 innings of work in his last home start against these Phils last season.

        Key Injuries - NONE

PROJECTED SCORE: 5 (Side Play of the Day)

New York Yankees at Chicago White Sox [ESPN | 8:11 PM ET]

Yankees: Mike Mussina is now just a shadow of the pitcher he once was. The Moose is 1-3 on the season with an unimpressive 5.75 ERA. Mussina has allowed 9 runs in his last 8 innings pitched. The one thing Mussina still does well is he has good control. Moose has only walked 3 batters in 20 1/3 innings pitched this season.

Key Injuries - 3B Alex Rodriguez (.308; birth of daughter) is NOT expected to rejoin the team until Thursday.

        PROJECTED SCORE: 5

White Sox (-140, O/U 9.5): Javier Vazquez is off to a fast start for a White Sox pitching staff that’s been a pleasant surprise early in the year. Vazquez has only allowed 5 runs in his last 20 innings of work. However, the one-time Yankee has struggled against his former team, going 1-3 with a 5.25 ERA versus the Bombers.

        Key Injuries - NONE

        PROJECTED SCORE: 6

Arizona Diamondbacks at Los Angeles Dodgers [10:10 PM ET]

Diamondbacks: Arizona starter Dan Haren has made a splash in his first 4 starts of the season with his new team. Haren is 3-0 with a 1.80 ERA on this young season and has shown great command, striking out 19 while walking just 4. This will be his first start at Dodger Stadium since his rookie season in 2003, where he got a 3-1 victory for the Cardinals, allowing just 1 run over 6 innings.

        Key Injuries - NONE

PROJECTED SCORE: 2 (UNDER - Total Play of the Day)

Dodgers (-120, O/U 8): LA starter Derek Lowe will look to bounce back from his worst outing of the season. The right-hander allowed 5 runs in just 4+ innings, getting rocked once again by his nemesis in Braves 3B Chipper Jones. The right-hander is one of the better Dodger starters at home and holds a 1.93 ERA in 2 starts there already this season. Lowe received a win in his last home start against these D-Backs, allowing just 1 earned run over 7 innings last season.

        Key Injuries - NONE

        PROJECTED SCORE: 3

          Tips and Trends
          ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Philadelphia 76ers at Detroit Pistons [NBA | 7:30 PM ET]

76ers: Philly now has home-court advantage in this series after a 90-86 win in Game 1 thanks to the outstanding play of the team's starting backcourt. Andre Miller and Willie Green outscored Detroit's Chauncey Billups and Rip Hamilton 37-27, making 16-of-29 shots from the field (55 percent). “It’s a great confidence booster for us,” Green. “But we’ve got to stay focused. We can’t get complacent.” Billups and Hamilton connected on just 8-of-26 of their shots (31 percent) and now have to contend with a 76ers team that has won 10 straight first-round playoff series when capturing Game 1.

76ers are 10-3 ATS in their last 13 road games.
76ers are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games vs. Central Division.
76ers are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 Wednesday games.

          Key Injuries - NONE

          PROJECTED SCORE: 84

Pistons (-10.5, O/U 178.5): Detroit remains confident despite blowing a 13-point halftime lead in Game 1, but it's how the Pistons lost that has insiders concerned. They missed 14 lay-ups and saw 13 of their turnovers converted into 18 points. “We’ve been in this position many times before and we’ve capitalized every time back-and-forth in the last six years,” Detroit forward Tayshaun Prince said. “Then, all of a sudden, when you don’t do it, it seems like a problem. It’s not a problem. We’re not going to pull out every close game just because we’re the more experienced ball club or we’ve been there before.”

Pistons are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 home games.
Pistons are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 Wednesday games.
Pistons are 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games vs. Atlantic Division.

          Key Injuries - NONE

          PROJECTED SCORE: 94

Atlanta Hawks at Boston Celtics [TNT | 8 PM ET]

Hawks: Atlanta rookie Al Horford was the lone bright spot in an otherwise dismal return to the playoffs for the first time since 1999. Horford made 7-of-10 shots from the field en route to 20 points while his fellow starters made just 14-of-49 (29 percent). “Obviously, the similarity (in college and pro postseasons) is a different atmosphere from the regular season; you can feel it in the air,” Horford said. “But as far as other differences, you have to come back and play. It’s the best-of-seven here. In school, our mentality was win or go home. Here, we have a chance to redeem ourselves and play another game.”

Hawks are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall.
The UNDER is 7-1 in the last 8 meetings at Boston.

          Key Injuries - NONE

          PROJECTED SCORE: 87

Celtics (-15, O/U 189): Much was made of Boston point guard Rajon Rondo's inexperience heading into the playoffs, but the second-year player delivered 15 points, 9 assists and 6 rebounds against Atlanta's Mike Bibby, who had played in 51 more playoff games during his career. Sam Cassell was even brought in to help spell Rondo, but he played just 16 minutes and scored 10 points. “I was pretty comfortable,” Rondo said. “I didn’t really get nervous; I tried to approach it like a regular season (game), but I knew the intensity would be a lot higher and the crowd would be a lot better.”

Celtics are 20-6 ATS in their last 26 games overall, covering 5 straight.
The UNDER is 11-5 in Boston's last 16 games as a favorite.

          Key Injuries - NONE

          PROJECTED SCORE: 102

Denver Nuggets at Los Angeles Lakers [TNT | 10:30 PM ET]

Nuggets: The Staples Center crowd tried to get under the skin of Denver star Carmelo Anthony following his arrest last week for driving under the influence by chanting "DU, DUI, DUI" but he just took it in stride. "It was funny to me," Anthony said. "I was able to block it out and just focus on what I need to focus on. I wasn’t expecting anything different. I’m on the road." He hit 8-of-10 from the charity stripe and will need to continue to keep his cool throughout the series if the Nuggets hope to win a game.

The UNDER is 5-1 in Denver's last 6 games overall.

Key Injuries - Nene Hilario (5 ppg; groin) is questionable.

          PROJECTED SCORE: 111

Lakers (-8, O/U 229): LA was able to win Game 1 despite some poor early shooting from star Kobe Bryant, who made just 5 of his first 20 shots. Bryant ended up 9-of-26 from the field and finished with 32 points, including 18 in the final 8 minutes. The more disappointing part of his game was the 1 assist he posted after averaging 7.7 against the Nuggets during the regular season. None of that seemed to matter though as Pau Gasol totaled 36 points, 16 rebounds and 8 assists for the Lakers against 2007 Defensive Player of the Year Marcus Camby.

Lakers are 5-0 ATS in the last 5 meetings.
Lakers are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games.

          Key Injuries - NONE

          PROJECTED SCORE: 119
