Go Brewers! At least they have still won two of Gagne's blown saves. They are 12-8 and hit horrible for first 1/8 of season. This is going to be some race for the Wild Card since the Cubs are obviously the class of the National League.
Think it will be between the Cubs and Reds.Reds are young, but have a really good staff that has the potential to be great.
What a great story this will be-Dusty against his old boys. Here me out here, :below is their lineup and starting rotation:
1) C Patterson/Freel/Harriston Jr (CF) can platoon based on pitching matchups, Freel cannot hit lefthanded pitchers-somewhere around 200, but all have speed and base stealing potienal
2) Jeff Keppingger(SS) Good glove and hits above 300
3) Da KID (RF) Still has Game
4) Brandon Phillips (2b) one of two 30-30 guys last year. most underrated player in the game
5) Adam Dunn(LF) bad average, should hit 40+ HR
6) Joey Votto (1b) This kid is hitting 330, think he will hit around 285, but 25-30 hr not out of qustion
7)Edwin Encarnación (3b) good fielder, and looks like he'e turning it on. another 25-30 hr guy
8) Paul Bako/Valentine (C) both are great defensive catchers and both call great games
Bench: Freel, Hopper, Hattenburg, Harriston Jr., great mixs of speed, pop, and switch hitters.
Starting Pitching
1) Adam Harrang: Avg 215k's, 16 wins. 3.75 era past 2 years
2) B Arroyo: Nothing special, but suitable#2, eats innings, so should save the pen. Better than the Brewers#2.
3)Johnny Cueto: Kid could be special. 28k's to 3 walks. Great control, and is not afraid to stay with his stuff when he falls behind in the count.Sick fastball, and slider.
4)Edinson Vólquez: another great young pitcher with great stuff. Whip is around 1.25 right now, so could has some control problems, but has enough nasty stuff to get out of jams.
5) M Belise/Josh Fogg: nothing special, but their number 5's.
The only thing that I don't like about the rotation is they don't have any lefties.
Bullpen:
CLOSER: Francisco Cordero: Brewers are stupid for not signing this guy. Had 46 saves last year aand a good era.
RP) Jeremy Affeldt: Good lefty to bring out, has closing experince
David Weathers: Closing experince
Todd Coffey: Closing experince
Kent Merker: seasoned vet
Also, their young lefty Bobby Livingston had shoulder surgery in Feb, so if they get anything out of him mid summer they will have a lefty to throw at people. Posted a future but on this team a few weeks back to win the division, and I think they have a great shot. What do you guys think?

The Reds relief pitchers average age is 62 years old.
They have to play more day games this year to keep them awake.
Cordero was a GREAT sign, it's just too bad that Cincinatti doesn't have the lead in games to put him in to get the save.
It's a Chicago/Milwaukee race, but Chicago clearly IMO biased or not, is the clear favorite. Two weeks into the season without their "star player" they have been extreamely impressive.
I'm a Mets fan, so I could care less who wins this division-My team is going to win the series!!! But, you have to be an idiot to think the Brewers are 10 times better than the Reds. Great they have Ben Sheets-he hasn't played a complete season since 04'. Dave Bush is your number 2. WHEW! In the Reds pen, Merker, coffey, and Weathers are all old, but they do have some younger guys. Fact of the matter, is that the Brewers and Reds are both young. I like the Brewers lineup, but they are in serious need of another starting pitcher.

Bottom line is that Cubs should win this division, BUT if you want some value go with the Reds or the Cards.
If you like the Brewers take them at 7/1 to win the NL.

Don't disagree with you on the Brewers starting pitching. And even their relievers are worse.
But they have the offense to make up for their horrid pitching.
As far as the Reds go....I don't think they are young. Dunn is not young, Griffey is a fossil. And I don't think they have the offense top to bottom to compete with the Cubs/Brewers and even the Cardnals.
I looked up ages and the Reds average age for the pitching staff is 30 and the hitters are 31
Brewers avg age on the pitching staff is 30 and the hitters are 29
Cubs average age on the pitching staff is 30 and the hitters are 29.
