that is an understatement. a very big understatement.

90% of people who went to a sox or c's game a month ago could name 3 players on the team.

bruins have and always will have their own unique and loyal fan base. a different breed IMO.

I moved here in 2004 and had always heard how it was such a big hockey town...it is far from it.....you are right, they have their die hards and then a bunch of bandwagon jumpers.....

by all accounts, the bruins were bigger in the early 70's than the red sox are now.

you moved to the area just as hockey was at its all time low here. as you can see by this series, boston would love to support hockey and will if there is reason too and can be a great hockey town.

the owner and old gm (sinden) literally killed hockey here, and the fans finally had enough and i can't blame them. they never, ever, spent money on the team. they should have been embarassed that bourque had to ask for a trade after 20 years to go win a cup because he knew they would never try to here. and the trading of joe thornton was really the last straw. they traded that seasons league mvp for 50 cents on the dollar, and basically said to the fans that if you didn't like the move, you were an idiot.

bruins fans are a very loyal, loud, and die hard bunch, but right now there aren't as many left as their used to be, basically because of thier piece of shit owner. hopefully they are winning alot of them back. with neely basically running the show now and chiarelli as gm, they appear to be on the right track.

i could see how it would appear to some as bandwagon jumpers, but they really aren't. they were just fed up of being shit on by jacobs and sinden. cant blame them, as i went from sharing season tix to not going to a game for a over 2 years.

i did go to one of the playoff games, and man the atmosphere was NUTS!
