Hot lines: Saturday's best MLB bets
                      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                      L.A. Dodgers vs. San Diego (-135, 6 1/2)

You don't see totals this low very often. But Brad Penny and Jake Peavy have a combined 0.00 ERA after one start apiece and hits won't be easy to come by.

Consider also this is the pitcher-friendly Petco Park, where the over/under was 35-42-4 last season.

                      Pick: under 6 1/2

                      Texas vs. L.A. Angels (-160, 8 1/2)

The Rangers (2-2) got a season-high 12 hits to beat the Angels 11-6 in Thursday's series opener after finally halting Los Angeles' six-run, ninth-inning rally

Texas' strong offensive display came after being held to eight runs with a .206 batting average in its first three games, and had only seven hits in a 5-2 season-opening loss at Seattle on Monday. Millwood (0-1, 0.00 ERA) was on the hill for that poor hitting performance, and he didn't get much help defensively either. The right-hander allowed two unearned runs and four hits in six innings, watching the Rangers strike out 10 times - including three each by Broussard and Ian Kinsler.

The Rangers have made that a habit when Millwood gets the ball, providing only eight runs in his last six starts dating to last season. The lack of support has been more glaring on the road, where he is 0-8 with a 4.26 ERA in his last 10 starts and been given only 12 runs in that span.

                      Pick: over 8 1/2

Chicago White Sox at Detroit Tigers [FOX | 3:55 PM ET]

White Sox: Gavin Floyd gets the call for Chicago in this one after going 1-5 with a 5.27 ERA last year as a member of the South Siders. Floyd has fared well against the Tigers during this career though with a 1-0 mark and 2.66 ERA in 4 starts. He has walked just 2 batters with 19 strikeouts in 23 2/3 innings lifetime vs. Detroit.

White Sox are 9-18 in their last 29 road games.
White Sox are 9-3 in the last 12 meetings at Detroit.

                              Key Injuries - NONE

PROJECTED SCORE: 6 (OVER - Total Play of the Day)

Tigers (-165, O/U 9.5): Dontrelle Willis makes his highly-anticpated debut for Detroit after a high ERA of 8.64 during Spring Training. Willis had a bullpen session on Sunday with mixed results. "There were some good signs and some not so good," Detroit manager Jim Leyland said. "Once again, the velocity was real good. At times his command was pretty good. At other times, it wasn't. We're talking about a lot of encouragement because the arm strength is there and the health is there. Now it's just a matter of trying to iron some things out."

Tigers are 1-6 in their last 7 games overall.

"It's the kind of thing I knew obviously would happen at some point of the year," Glavine said. "I guess it?s happening now sooner than I anticipated. Of course it's going to be weird. It's going to be very similar to when I faced the Braves for the first time after leaving here." He allowed 1 earned run in 5 innings of an eventual 12-11 loss to Pittsburgh on Opening Day.

Orlando Magic at Cleveland Cavaliers [ESPN | 3 PM ET

Magic: Orlando is essentially locked into the East's No. 3 seed after wrapping up the Southeast Division earlier this week, but the team is looking to avoid its 5th loss in 7 games. The Magic's recent loss saw them letting a 9-point halftime advantage against Western Conference-leading New Orleans slip away in a 98-97 defeat. However, Dwight Howard is averaging 25 points and 13 rebounds a game against the Cavs this season. Orlando has won 5 of 7 in the series, including the last 2 visits to Cleveland.

Magic are 6-1 ATS in the last 7 meetings.

Key Injuries - G Jameer Nelson (11 ppg; jaw) is questionable.

Cavs (-2, O/U 196.5): The Cavaliers are losers of 3 straight after blowing a 17-point lead to the Bulls on Thursday night in a 101-98 loss. LeBron James - who had 32 points in the first 36 minutes - scored only 1 in the final 12. James suffered back spasms late in that game and was even taken out for treatment. He said he "hopes to get better" as he is nearly averaging a triple-double in 3 games against Orlando this season: 33 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds.

Cavs are 10-2 ATS in their last 12 home games.

Key Injuries - F LeBron James (30 ppg; back) is probable.

Toronto Raptors at New Jersey Nets [YES | 7:30 PM ET]

Raptors (-4, O/U 202.5): Toronto is headed to the playoffs, but according to coach Sam Mitchell his team is making "way too many mental mistakes." Up 3 points with less than 4 seconds to go in Atlanta on Wednesday, the Raptors didn't foul Mike Bibby and allowed him to make the game-tying 3-pointer. With Chris Bosh back in the lineup Toronto is averaging a whopping 105 points per game over its last 5 and scored 109 against these Nets in the last meeting.

Raptors are 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games overall.

                                Key Injuries - NONE

Nets (NA): New Jersey is fighting for its playoff life right now, and head coach Lawrence Frank is using the Phillies comeback on the Mets last season in the MLB as motivation. With every game down the stretch meaning a ton, the starters have been forced to log major minutes and this is showing on the defensive side. The Nets are allowing 110 ppg in their last 5 games alone and have also dropped their last 2 home games by a combined 15 points.

The home team is 9-4-1 ATS in the last 14 meetings.

Key Injuries - G/F Vince Carter (21.5 ppg; ankle) is questionable.

Sacramento Kings at Denver Nuggets [9 PM ET]

Kings: Though out of the playoff race, Sacramento already has surpassed its 33 wins from last season - winning 4 of its last 5 - including a 110-98 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday night. The Kings are averaging 109 ppg over that span of 5 games after putting up 120 points against the Sonics in their most recent road contest. However, Sacramento hasn't defeated Denver since the 2007 season and is 0-2 in the series so far this year.

Kings are 6-2-1 ATS in the last 9 meetings.

Key Injuries - G Beno Udrih (13 ppg; back) is doubtful.

Nuggets (-11, O/U 234): Denver has won 9 straight at home for the first time since earning victories in its last 12 home games of the 2004-05 season, going 31-7 at the Pepsi Center overall. Nuggets guard J.R. Smith said: "We've got to just keep playing our game." One part of that game will be missing in this matchup in forward Kenyon Martin, who is averaging 13 ppg and 6 rpg this season but is suspended for this game due to exceeding the flagrant foul total. The Nuggets are scoring an average of 113 ppg at home this season while outscoring their opponents by an average of 11 points there.

Nuggets are 10-3 ATS in their last 13 games overall.

Key Injuries - F Kenyon Martin (13 ppg; suspension) is OUT.
