Pick 'n' Roll: Friday's best NBA bets
        ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

        Seattle at Philadelphia (-11, 200)

Wow. Philadelphia is laying 11 points. That doesn't happen every day. Actually, it hasn't all year, but that doesn't mean that you shouldn't lay the points here. The most the Sixers have been favored by this season is the 9.5 points they were laying against Memphis three weeks ago. That wasn't a problem for the red-hot Sixers. In fact, Philly is 3-0 when they're favored by nine points or more, so it's really not that risky to lay these points with a team that has won seven of its last 10 games and it helps that they're playing the Sonics in the middle of a long road stretch.

        Pick: Sixers

        Chicago at Boston (-11, 197)

There's no doubt that these Celtics are an excellent team, but you don't want to be laying too many points with these guys. Boston is 3-9 as a favorite of 11 or more points this season and the Bulls are 3-0 when they're on the receiving end of such a spread. The Garden is a tough place to play, but even though the Celts have won nine in a row at home, they've only covered in four of those games. Chicago is hot right now after scoring more than 100 points in its last two games.

        Pick: Bulls

San Antonio at Denver (-2, 201.5)

This is an easy one. The Spurs are getting points against a team that is 3-7 ATS in its last 10 games. You have to consider that the Spurs have lost their last four games as an underdog, but Denver's free-wheeling style doesn't fare so well against strong defensive teams. When facing the top five defensive teams in the NBA, the Nuggets are only 2-6 ATS. You might want to take a long look at the under here as well.

        Pick: Spurs

          Ice Picks: Friday's NHL selections
          ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tampa Bay at New Jersey (-223, 5.5)

Now that their losing streak is over, the New Jersey Devils have their sights set on the top of the Eastern Conference.

The Devils can move into first place in the conference on Friday when they host the stumbling Tampa Bay Lightning.

New Jersey (38-23-6) beat Toronto 4-1 on Tuesday, ending a three-game skid. David Clarkson and Zach Parise scored less than two minutes apart midway through the third period for the Devils, who were 0-2-1 in their previous three contests.

New Jersey's offense finally came alive, matching its goal total from its previous four games. The Devils are 31-2-2 when scoring at least three goals.

The Lightning lost for the eighth time in nine games on Thursday, falling 3-2 at Philadelphia. Tampa Bay, which owns the worst record in the East, has scored just three goals during a three-game losing streak.

          Pick: Devils

          Nashville at Calgary (-165, 5)

Goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff's recent success has kept the Calgary Flames afloat in the crowded Northwest Division.

Kiprusoff now looks to help the Flames regain sole possession of the division lead when they conclude their season series against the Nashville Predators on Friday at Pengrowth Saddledome.

Calgary (35-23-9) won the opener of its three-game homestand, beating Columbus 1-0 on Tuesday. Kiprusoff turned aside 39 shots for his 26th career shutout, and Craig Conroy scored as the Flames improved to 6-1-1 in their last eight games.

Kiprusoff, who was able to shake off a tough outing in Friday's 3-1 loss to Anaheim, is 4-1-1 with two shutouts and a 1.30 goals-against average in his last six starts.

The Predators fell to 2-2-0 on their season-high, six-game road trip following a 6-2 loss to Vancouver on Thursday. The defeat moved the Canucks into a tie with Nashville for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

          Pick: Flames
