I guess he thought it was better than getting nothing with him being an UFA at the end of the season. Thats the only explanation I can come up with about that.
I don't know what the Habs cap situation is like but you wouldn't think a goalie who was a back-up a year ago(at least I think so) would command big money in free agency.

However, RIGHT NOW it is MTL/PITT

As for the SouthE, I think Carolina will hang on but I would like to see HUET take washington to the playoffs on his back only to choke like he did with us lmao! Wish him the best though, hes a nice guy, met him a bunch.......

Not like RYDER and HIGGINS who are a bunch of potheads
Yea right now it wouldbe Pitt 4th us 5th...

BUT you actually think we cannot catch the Sens for the 2nd seed and the division with how much they have been struggling and only being one point back????

        • For those who do not think Hockey is a legit sport, why does every year ESPN put the USA over Russia upset right near the top of greatest sports moments in history? You young guys may not remember, this was in the Olympics (1980??)

Essentially a ALL-STAR NHL Russian team beaten by the USA team, mostly college kids and all amateurs. The famous call by a young AL Michaels: "Do you believe in miracles"!
          NBA is a joke

          • Dr Winn... Pens are 1 point out of first now. Crosby hasn't played for a month... still one point out of 1st!! Getting sid back this week and add Hossa. I think we might be a little better down the stretch. You people saying it was a bad trade and hossa will kill the franchise are living in denile. Hossa will take a what he makes this year and malkin will do the same as Crosby did taking less $. These guys know how special this team is and will be. most of the players on our team make less than 1 mil/year. can you say HATERS?

personally don't agree with giving up too much for a rental..

This is an extreme amount of youth to give up for Hossa who is a UFA at the end of the season. They gave up a fuck load for a rental player who could end up playing elsewhere after the season is over. If and only if they sign Hossa to a long term contract only ten will it make it a little bit better for the Pens organization.
Bet the Pens wish they held onto Armstrong, Christensen, Esposito, and a first rounder now....Malkin and Crosby is all the Pens have now....all this given up for what? A Stanley Cup final appearance only...just like Winn and I mentioned about a year ago today...

Chado,,just a couple of thoughts. Armstrong and Christensen are 3rd 4th line players at best. Esposito, where is he playing right now? The biggest problem with making the cup and not winning is the high prices that the guys they really miss got. Malone, Conklin, Ruutu, Roberts, etc... And the biggest problem is the fact that we did have the money to pay Hossa, we made him an equal deal but he chose the Red Wings. That is what really hurts, with Hossa we have the much needed scorer to pair with Crosby, therefore allowing Malkin to play on his own line. The Pens have to make a huge run just to make the playoffs, and Armstong and Christensen aren't the answer.

                    • Dont worry...You'll probably end up with Gaborik next year at a semi cheap price.

That will solve that goal scorer dellema but will give you another with how the hell are you going to keep him healthy. I think it's pretty clear he will not be with the Wild next year and Pittsburgh is probably the only team with the personnel and the cap room to get him to come to their club longterm. I dont expect him to go there this year since he's currently injured but I will not be surprised to see him there early next year with a very small deal in order to prove he's healthy.

The only other team that may try and get him will be Detroit and that will be a 100% 1 year deal where he will have to move on again the next year which may bring him to the Pens then. Not even the small teams will be willing to give him what he'll want so he'll have to chose a contender of some sort in order to get his goals and the payday he's so desperately greedy for. The guy is a joke and I'm sick of him...Someone else can have the whiner. I remember when hockey used to be the non-diva sport!
