Greatest Golfer ever and biggest phenom in his own sport, no doubt. I love watching Tiger and i can't believe how good he is ... but if you used him and the other 5 or so names in here and make them all play one game in the 4 major sports and one round of golf, you would see others look very good in 2, 3 or 4 of the events. I just don't see Tiger competing in any of them. He would get taken behind the woodshed in all 4 of the 4 major sports, no doubt!!!!!!!!

Originally posted by Three JackIn a major, what does Federer play...6 matches? So he needs to be better than 6 individuals. Tiger plays the field every day, different conditions every week....
Not taking away from what Federer does as he is one of the greats, if not greatest TP (I will say I am not a tennis fan), but what Tiger has accomplished, and what he is in the middle of currently, is un-wordly.
I am sure someone else has said thin in the htread, but I did not read the whole thing.
What does that matter? He also has to avoid injuries caused in the physical nature of his game from ruinning for 3 hours in a match. Tiger also doesn't play the field every day, he plays the course. He never sees an opponent staring at him and hitting balls 130 mph at him for hours on end.

I disagree. A Mlb player and a soap actor could beat 1/4 to a 1/3 of the guys on tour. I wouldn't be so sure of that. Michael can play baseball too. What else does Tiger do again?

I think golf is unquestionable more mentally taxing and tennis is unquestionably more physically demanding...but you rarely play matches in back-to-back days.Three Jack's Record http://www.bettorschat.com/forums/sh...10#post1323910

You can lose a golf tournament on one shot...you can't lose a tennis match on one point and players routinely will not finish a set out if they are in the hole and will conserve energy for the next set. Can't do that in golf.Three Jack's Record http://www.bettorschat.com/forums/sh...10#post1323910

Why would Tiger need to quit golf to stink up AA baseball? And you really think if you were as good at baseball as MJ was, you would have made it through two years? They woul dnever have kept you around. He was an attraction and they gave him a shot because he was MJ. he turned the turnstyles and that was all.Three Jack's Record http://www.bettorschat.com/forums/sh...10#post1323910

Originally posted by wayne1218Simply not true. Tiger doesn't need to be the best on Thursday, Friday or Saturday. He doesn't need the lead until Sunday to win. Unlike Federer, he can have a bad day on Thursday or Friday and be beat by 20 guys and still win. Federer has a bad day and he goes home.Three Jack's Record http://www.bettorschat.com/forums/sh...10#post1323910

I have been fortunate to play golf with Ivan Lendl 5 times in the past 2 yrs as he is very close to one of my best friends. He plays golf 36 holes a day, has built a lighted driving cage, chipping green and putting green on his yard. He plays more golf than just about anyone. He rarely plays tennis as golf is his passion. He has told me on more than one occasion that golf is far more difficult than tennis.
He has tried repeatedly to qualify for the US Open and never comes close. He will never be able to compete at the level of the worst PGA golfer and no one will spend more time practicing and playing than he does.
You do not have to take his word for it but I certainly will...he knows a little more than both of us on the subject...although I doubt you will agree....Three Jack's Record http://www.bettorschat.com/forums/sh...10#post1323910
