Ice picks: Monday's best NHL bet
        ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

        Phoenix vs. Dallas (-200, 5)

Usually we don't like to put too much stock into trends. But there is one tonight in this game that is so lopsided, you have to take it seriously.

The Coyotes are an incredible 10-1 on the puckline when playing on zero days of rest. They were underdogs in most of those games, mind you, with 1.5 goals on their side, but a 10-1 record equals a decent profit no matter how you slice it.

Phoenix fell 6-3 to Nashville yesterday in a disappointing effort and you can bet Coach Gretzky will be expecting more from his players tonight. The Yotes lost their two most recent games on no rest but covered the spread as 1 ?-puck pups on the road against Calgary and Detroit respectively.

Now they face a Dallas club that they're 2-1 against this season, thanks in part due to Shane Doan's two goals and four assists in those games. Dallas is just 16-16 ATS when playing on one day of rest, though the Stars enter tonight on a six-game winning streak.

        Pick: Phoenix +1.5 (-170)

            Pick 'n' Roll: Monday
            ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cleveland Cavaliers at Orlando Magic (-4 at the open, 195)

There's only so much LeBron James can do. With a rash of injuries in Cleveland's frontcourt, he's been doing everything - scoring, hitting the boards, and distributing the ball.

''You just have to try to lead your team and maintain focus,'' James told Ohio.com. ''It's not easy to have four of your top eight guys out. I don't know if any team in this league could do it. It's going to be a challenge.''

Especially on back-to-backs. Cleveland took a 113-83 pounding from Denver Sunday evening at home before traveling to Orlando for Monday's game. The Cavs are 4-6 against the spread in the second of back-to-backs this season.

Update: Odds moved from -4 to about -8.5 following news of Cleveland's delayed flight and more injury issues.

            Pick: Magic

Portland Trail Blazers at Houston Rockets (-7.5, 184.5)

Here come the Rockets. They've held each of their last four opponents to fewer than 100 points and are on a six-game winning streak (covering the number five times).

Houston pounded Atlanta on Saturday, leading by as many as 33 points throughout the game, and finally seem to be getting everything together.

"It's all about business and taking care of home court right now," Tracy McGrady told the Houston Chronicle. "We've been playing extremely well on the road. We just have to do that at home, and I think the last two games we've shown that we are capable."

Houston has won and covered in each of its last three home dates, moving the club's home record to 11-11-1 against the spread.

            Pick: Rockets

Washington Wizards at Golden State Warriors (-8.5, 213)

Gilbert Arenas can't get back in the lineup soon enough for the Washington Wizards. Caron Butler, who has been shouldering the offensive load when healthy, sat out Friday's loss to the Nuggets and was joined on the sideline by point guard Antonio Daniels after he went down mid-way through the game.

"I just can't move like I want to," Daniels told the Washington Post. "I'm out there with what feels like a cast on my ankle. I can't accelerate. I can't jump. I can't do the things I need to do out there."

That leaves Washington shorthanded for Sunday night's game against the up-tempo Suns and likely Monday's date with the high-scoring Warriors as well.

            Pick: Warriors
