I've made thousands of dollars from internet poker in the last few years (I've lost most of it back sports betting) online and prefer it to any casino.

You can play multiple tables at once, you can be in a tournament and a cash game at the same time, you can play in your underwear, you can talk on the phone, you can take a piss and never miss a hand, you don't have to look at all the fugly people that play live, or smell their stank ass cig breath. Shit I've even received head from my girl while making money online. Play quality is also much worse on the net because people dont have to feel the shame of people seeing them when they make a mistake. It's just a click of a mouse to get hundreds in the pot very quickly. The only fun live games I play are with friends at the end of a drunken night with blunts being passed around.

Have you ever even tried it?
yes- and if you've made thousands- why would you give it back betting sports ? who's tripping ? and on what ?

I like to gamble bro, and I have no problem admitting my strengths and weaknesses. The topic was ONLINE POKER, and you began to knock it with no experience, so I felt it necessary to explain that it can be quite profitable.

I would have to disagree. I don't know if it's "serious money", but over the past year I've cashed out over 3K from pokerstars. I only play 6 person NL Sit N Go tourneys. They are highly profitable. They pay the top 2, and generally 2 of the players are horrible, so you really only have to beat two people to make the money. I like to play in the $35 + $3 ones. I've played higher, but these are pretty easy and most of the time I'm watching TV or something and not 100% paying attention.

You can definitely play everything by the book and lose in poker, it happens all the time. Heck, you can have AA vs 2 7 offsuit and lose one of 8 times. But, if you continually put yourself in good positions, where the odds are in your favor, in the long run you will be profitable. The odds are definitly NOT "against your favor in the long run" if you play correctly. If you suck and chase straights and flushes w/o getting the correct odds and things like that, then yeah, you'll lose more than you win. I'm a bit of a "student of the game," and it's very easy to profitable in the long run. So many people go to casinos and online after watching the few select hands shown out of thousands in a tournament and think they are hot shit. They don't realize how much of the game consists of folding non stop and not always catching that miracle card that makes it to the TV.

Stick to hockey man, you cant tell me this game isnt very very profitable if you are a good player.

It is much more +EV than sportsbetting infact.

Obviously you're not going to think otherwise, but the odss are not "against your favor" in the long run if you know how to play.

In order to make it a full time career, I'd have to play at much higher levels. That means player against better players, maybe/probably better than me. Why would I not want ot just stay where I am and use that money to pay for my sports and horse gambling?

Also, no offense, but just b/c some old timers told you something doesn't mean it's true. Alot of people say alot of things, but if you've haven't much, or at all as it seems, I wouldn't blindly go off some other people's thoughts.

As for the 5 years comment, I've been played alot online and in casinos for the last 5 years. I've had one minus year and four plus years. The people that constanly bitch about bad beats are the same people that don't remember the ones they been on the positive side of. You can do everything right, and get your money in "good" every time, but you're not going to win every time. The main point of poker is to make the correct decisions and to get your opponents to make incorrect ones. However, just b/c you make the correct, doesn't mean you win, and vice versa. But that's short term. In the long run, making right decisions = $.
                              O..H.........I..O!

Bunch of hard heads here, many gamblers have a leak, many of the poker pros, and myself included. The leak for me at times has been sports betting and spending but I can promise in the 4 years I've played it, poker is not my leak. I am ahead a good amount of money based on what I have bought in for. And Chado, not many want to play poker for a living because yes, you do have losing streaks and most people, cant handle it. Shit chado I remember you saying you were maxing out credit cards to bet over 3k on a hockey under before, granted you have changed your ways but many can not. Lots of poker players do well on the felt but away from it is where the money problems begin.

I hate to break it to you guys but some people actually are good at poker and making well timed calculated decisions...some people know this, and some just dont.

IM OUT...Have a good one guys
