            2) Wade Phillips (Cowboys)
            3) Jack Del Rio (Jags)

only 1 bottom guy in my opinion and thats Brian Billick(Ravens) im not a Ravens fan at all but he is a horrible play caller and should be fired

              The Good
              1) Jack Del Rio (Jags)
              2) Mike McCarthy (Packers)
              3) Tony Dungy (Colts)

Jack Del Rio will win this. Jack Del Rio's move with Leftwich gone prior to the season shook up the team and created a winning atmosphere on defense and offense. Del Rio's back was against the wall to produce this season or take a hike. No team wants to play Jax right now as they are physical and will be heard from in the playoffs.

Green Bays resurgence after not getting Moss to compliment Farve is produced another outstanding coaching experience. The whole team was disheartened at the beginning but showed on the field that they would dominate. The only slight is Dallas winning at Dallas that created a "here goes the Packers again mentality"

Coach Dungy should also be mentioned as he has won with many injured but award Peyton most of that success.

              The Worst
              1) Atlanta's coach Petrino should easily be the worst coach. Coward - I want to go home to Mommy!
              2) Billick--At least Balt. gave NE a scare. Lost to Miami-sheesh! Why did he not start his better QB (Troy) instead of Bollinger.
              3) Miami (don't even know the coaches name) has shown little coaching skills with a depleted lineup. But coaches are hired to find a way- he has not!
              Special Consideration to Norvy Poo!

                  I'd go with:
                  1. Mike McCarthy (Packers)
                  2. Romeo Crennel (Browns)
                  3. Dick Jauron (Bills)

                  Bottom 3

                  1. Brian Billick (Ravens)
                  2. Marvin Lewis (Bengals)
                  3. Lovie Smith (Bears)

                  Best
McCarthy has a team at 12-2 that got badly criticized for not signing any free agents and basically playing with a bunch of kids. He actually got Favre reenergized to play. I think he's done awesome work there.

I still remember watching the Steelers crush the Browns opening day with Charlie Frye in there and thinking man it must suck to be a Browns fan. What a job by Crennel to have the guts to stick with Anderson and not Quinn, get the D to play better and keep guys like Winslow in check. Now they're a win from the playoffs.

I still can't figure out how Jauron got that team to stay competitive with all those injuries, the Everett injury and a revolving door at qb.

                  Worst
No question in my mind Billick is the worst. He's as arrogant as they come and can't call plays to save his life. Oh and he lost to the Dolphins. The team and even coaches have clearly lost respect for him. No way should he keep his job.

Lewis clearly lets the inmates run the asylum. That team is a mess up and down the roster. He's supposed to be a defensive guru much like Billick as an offensive guru in Balty, yet his D sucks every year. They need discipline in there fast. Even their offense disappointed this year.

Lovie never could settle on a qb, the O is always out of sync, and the vaunted D has barely shown up other than Urlacher. It took him all year to realize that Hester should touch the ball as much as possible. He took a Super Bowl team and made them a mess.

I didn't add Petrino in here because he was too cowardly to finish the season. And Cam Cameron basically inherited a mess left by Nick Saban. I'd give him another season or 2 before its time to bash him completely.

You guys are out of your minds.

Bill Belichick is the coach of the year.

                      What is he? Unbeaten?

And three times smarter than every other coach??

People like to make this the surprise team award only because they are surprised.

I think the coaches of the year are, in order:

                      Belichick
                      McCarthy
                      Wade Phillips
                      Dungy
                      Crennel

How can anyone even consider Jauron----a coach whose team might be .500 at the end of the year??

I give some credit to Childress who held his team together and cobbled together an offense with Tavaris Jackson as QB.

I see your point on Belichek, but what says the Vikings might not end up .500 at the end of the year? Word is the players can't stand Childress so maybe they're underacheiving because of that. And the Bills are completely decimated by injuries. That team should probably have 3-4 wins.

                          Agreed,
My vote for worst of the year is also Billick.

Your team is 4-9, you play for a tie, on the road, at the 1/2 yd line in Miami. That was the biggest pussy move ever, way to show confidence in your team. You want to play for a coin flip

                          Also,
Marvin Lewis has gotten a pass for too long, opposite of Billick, supposed to be a defensive genuis, Cincy's Defense is swiss cheese and the tools they have with the QB and recievers, they are big underacheivers.

Coach of the year has to be Belichik, cheated and undefeated LOL.

I think you have to consider the talent these teams have and their expectations coming into the season. Were the Patriots favorites to return to the Super Bowl? Yes! Did the Patriots have plenty of Pro Bowl caliber players coming into the season? Yes! 15 other coaches in the league could lead the Pats to the playoffs with that talent.
