Old Wade Phillips had a very tough job. he had to step into a messed up situation with Parcells leaving and has to deal with T.O.

He also made the situation work with jason garrett, the coordinator hired before he got there. A lot of coaches would have let their egos get in the way.

But I still think Belichick has done a better job coaching than anybody.

one fional point: I think this award should be chosen AFTER the playoffs. Last year Schottenheimer did the best regular season coaching job.....but in the end who cares about that???

Romeo Crennel Coach of the year His team picked by many to be lucky to win between 2 to4 games this year add that to the fact the Browns shit-canning their starting QB the day after the first game of the year.

McCarthy I can see. Tell me you didn't expect anything more than 3-4 wins from the teams I listed: Bills, Browns, Vikings?

Your going to tell me everyone thought the Packers would win 11 games and probably the last 2.

Bill Belichick is the coach of the year.

                          What is he? Unbeaten?

And three times smarter than every other coach??

People like to make this the surprise team award only because they are surprised.

I think the coaches of the year are, in order:

                          Belichick
                          McCarthy
                          Wade Phillips
                          Dungy
                          Crennel

How can anyone even consider Jauron----a coach whose team might be .500 at the end of the year??

I give some credit to Childress who held his team together and cobbled together an offense with Tavaris Jackson as QB.

No shit, the 2nd coach in history to go 14-0 and quite possibly the 1st to go 16-0. I don't care how much talent is there because in the Montana, Aikman, Bradshaw, Young, Staubach and Elway days, there was Hall of Fame talent everywhere and NONE of them achieved this. No doubt, it's Belichick!

How can anyone say Belicheck is the coach of the year...With Brady, Moss and Welker I can coach that team to a Super Bowl win...I still say they are going to lose a game though...

Montana, Young, Aikman, Staubach and Bradshaw all had alot more talent around them than Brady does and most had a better defense too. Did any of their coaches lead them to a 14-0 or 16-0 record? No ... many teams come out of nowhere to have a solid year like Cleveland and G.B. but NOBODY has led a team to what N.E. has done except for Don Shula. You guys will see how blinded you all are when Belichick wins by a landslide!
