Sidney Crosby posted one assist in each of two games this season versus the Flyers, but the Penguins (15-12-2) have lost both times.

Edmonton Oilers at St. Louis Blues (-200, 5)

Ice picks: Tuesday's best NHL wagers

Pittsburgh Penguins at Philadelphia Flyers (-140, 5 1/2)

Sidney Crosby and the red-hot Penguins are riding a four-game winning streak into Philly tonight. In 18 games against the Flyers, Crosby has dominated, scoring 14 goals and recording 32 points. Philadelphia has won both meetings between the two clubs this season but has been struggling lately and hasn't won a home game in a month. There is great value in Crosby & Co tonight where they're pegged as the underdogs.

      Pick: Penguins +120

Edmonton Oilers at St. Louis Blues (-200, 5)

Oddsmakers have been reluctant to set a total above 5 1/2 for an Oilers contest this year. Just once this entire season has Edmonton seen a total rise to six. Books may want to reconsider. Not only have the Oilers been scoring more lately, they've been allowing more too. In their last seven games, they have averaged over three goals per game and have allowed an average of nearly three goals per game. The result has been six overs in those seven games.

      Pick: Over 5

Minnesota Wild at San Jose Sharks (-160, 5)

The Sharks have been like night and day when it comes to playing at home and on the road this season. They are an NHL best 11-3-2 away from home but on their own ice they have recorded just four victories, which is a league worst. They host the Wild tonight who have struggled offensively lately but have still won five of their last seven games. Minnesota has won four of its last five meetings with San Jose.

      Pick: Wild

Hockey today - Tuesday, Dec. 11

        SCOREBOARD Tuesday, Dec. 11

Minnesota at San Jose (10:30 p.m. EST). San Jose is first in the Pacific Division despite a 4-6-0-2 record at home.

        STARS Monday

-Alex Auld, Bruins, made 44 saves and Boston topped Buffalo 4-1.

-Chris Pronger, Ducks, scored a power-play goal with 1:45 left in overtime to give Anaheim a 4-3 win at Columbus.

-Chris Osgood, Red Wings, made 30 saves and Detroit held off Nashville 2-1.

-Chad Kilger, Maple Leafs, scored twice in Toronto's 6-1 rout of Tampa Bay.

-Brenden Morrow and Sergei Zubov, Stars. Morrow's overtime power-play goal off Zubov's third assist of the game lifted Dallas to a 5-4 victory over Edmonton.

        BE-DEVILED

New Jersey had its 10-game point streak snapped after a 3-2 loss at Washington on Monday. The Devils lost for the second consecutive night after winning nine straight, including Sunday's 1-0 overtime loss to the New York Rangers.

        OS-GOOD

Detroit goalie Chris Osgood improved to 14-1-1 on the season after making 30 saves in Monday night's 2-1 win over Nashville. The Red Wings have won seven straight to improve to an NHL-best 22-6-2.

        DOMINATED IN DALLAS

Edmonton dropped to 3-17-1 at Dallas since 1996 after Monday night's 5-4 overtime loss.

        RISING LEAFS

Toronto is 5-1-1 in its last seven games following a 6-1 rout of Tampa Bay on Monday night. The surge followed a 1-4-3 slump that sparked rumors of shake-ups and firings and fan outrage.

        MEMORABLE MILESTONE

Anaheim defenseman Chris Pronger played in his 900th NHL game Monday night and scored the overtime winner in a 5-4 victory at Columbus.

        INJURIES

Vancouver's Roberto Luongo ruled himself out during warmups Monday night at Los Angeles because of a painful bruised rib and was replaced by Curtis Sanford, who made 27 saves in the 4-2 loss to the Kings. Sanford had won all three of his previous starts for the Canucks. ... Tampa Bay center Brad Richards left Monday night's game against Toronto with an apparent left leg injury. Richards was set to travel with the team to Montreal for the Lightning's game against the Canadiens. ... Boston's Marco Sturm was hit in the eye with the puck during the first period at Buffalo and didn't return. Coach Claude Julien said he shouldn't miss any time.

        SPEAKING

''That's a guy who's toiled for most of his life (in) the low minors. To score the winning goal in an important game for us, that's a really cool thing,'' - Washington coach Bruce Boudreau on rookie Quentin Laing, who scored his first NHL goal in a 3-2 win over New Jersey on Monday night.

                                Six-pack for Tuesday

-- Saints' 99-yard TD drive in first half Monday was their first 99-yard drive since 1994.

-- Do honchos at ESPN have any idea how annoying Tony Kornheiser is, or is that the idea? Dennis Miller was a lot better in the booth-- he got canned. Utilizing Steve Young more would seem to be a wise thing to do.

-- It is weird that there hasn't been a winless or unbeaten NFL team since '76, but there might be both this season?

-- Cable rates in NYC will be going up, as Knicks' tab in the Isiah Thomas sexual harassment suit was $11.5M. How in the name of Pete does this guy keep his job?

-- Mike Woodson is doing good job with Atlanta Hawks, who are now 7-4 in their last eleven games.

-- Our man Gerald, friend of this website, wrote in to say that on night Avery Johnson had 22 assists for Southern, setting a D-I record, Gerald scored two of those hoops for the Jaguars, on passes from the Mavericks' coach.
