What Mich needs to do is forget about getting a high profile coach (retread)and take a shot on a coach from a smaller program like a Tressel (YSU) a coach who had sucess at a smaller program who holds the Michigan values close to his sweater vest as Jim Tressel does. I'm sure there is a young sucessful coach at the lower level that can motavate and teach the recruits how to win chomping at the bit in a football rich state like Michigan

Eventually somebody is going to get Paul Johnson to leave Navy. With all the openings, this could be the year.

I think he'd be a pretty good fit despite his love of the option offense.

The guy I think they'll go after, however, is Pinkel of Missouri. he came out of the midwest at Bowling Green and there's no way Missouri can match Michigan money.

The other thing I wonder about is a guy like Steve Mariucci. He's a Michigan native and it's pretty clear no pro team is going to hire him any time soon.
