        SPEAKING

''It was a good feeling to get one in regulation. We're not doing anything the easy way. It would have been nice to win a couple games at the beginning of the homestand and give ourselves a chance to put something together. But it was nice to recover and get to .500 during this stretch.'' - Oilers coach Craig MacTavish after a 3-1 victory over Columbus on Monday night helped them finish 3-3 on a season-long six-game homestand. Edmonton's past three victories came in the shootout, as did six of its previous nine wins this season.

Ice picks: Tuesday's best NHL bets

Calgary Flames at Detroit Red Wings (-200, 5)

When you think of the city of Detroit you think of the car industry and the sounds of Motown. If you bet on the Calgary Flames however, the mention of Detroit only stirs up memories of lost wagers and disappointing defeats.

Tonight the Flames try to win at Joe Louis Arena for the first time in over two years and put an end to a demanding stretch of road games. Calgary is a tired team and their recent play has shown that on the ice. On Sunday Jarome Iginla was held scoreless for only the fifth this season in a 3-0 loss to St. Louis. Flames goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff is 5-7-1 with one tie and a 2.85 GAA in 15 career games against the Wings.

          Pick: Red Wings -200

Montreal Canadiens at Toronto Maple Leafs (-110, 6)

Early in the season the Maple Leafs were filling wallets thanks mostly to a potent offense. The scoring has cooled off since then and the Leafs don't have the goaltending and defense to fall back on.

Toronto has gone 12 straight games without scoring more than three goals and the team is wondering where the top snipers have gone. Jason Blake, who scored 40 goals last season, has only two so far this year. Despite a disappointing season to date, Leafs goalie Vesa Toskala has has only allowed five goals in a pair of wins over Montreal this season.

          Pick: Under 6

Anaheim Ducks at Vancouver Canucks (-145, 5)

The Vancouver Canucks might want to change the locks to the building before hosting Anaheim tonight. The defending Stanley Cup champion Ducks are riding a six-game winning streak at GM Place that dates back to 2002.

Anaheim is 3-1-0 on the road in November and 7-2-2 overall for the month. Ryan Getzlaf continues to carry the club with six goals and six assists during his career-high eight-game point streak. Anaheim's Jean-Sebastien Giguere is 7-0-1 with a 1.57 GAA and a shutout in his last nine regular-season games against the Canucks.

          Pick: Ducks +125

            Philadelphia at Milwaukee
After a 2-4 start, the Bucks have been on a tear thanks to some home cooking that has seen Milwaukee win all six of its games at the Bradley Center thus far. The latest came against Dallas (97-95) on Saturday behind Michael Redd's 27 points. No surprise that Redd has been the key behind the run as he has scored at least 21 points during the Bucks' current five-game winning streak. The Sixers are heading in the opposite direction, losers of seven of their last eight after starting the season at 2-2. A lack of consistent offense has been a big problem as Philly is averaging just 89.9 points per game. Against a confident Bucks' team, Philadelphia should have a tough time keeping it within the margin (-7 1/2) according to Dunkel, which has Milwaukee favored by 10 1/2. Dunkel Pick: Milwaukee (-7 1/2). Here are all of today's games.

                        Anaheim at Vancouver

The Ducks are playing better on the road after losing their first six games away from the Honda Center this year. Anaheim is 3-1-0 in its last four road games and comes to the familiar GM Place tonight where the Ducks have won six straight over Vancouver while outscoring the Canucks 19-6. Anaheim looks like a good underdog pick (+120) in this one according to Dunkel, which has the Ducks favored straight up by 1/2 a goal. Dunkel Pick: Anaheim (+120). Here are all of today's games.
