Total bias: Week 12 over/under plays

    Sunday, November 25

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    NFL over/under picks
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Buffalo Bills at Jacksonville Jaguars over 36 1/2

The Jags have been identified as a defensive team since Jack Del Rio took over the club in 2003. This year things have been out of whack. Jacksonville is allowing an average 351 yards per game. The loss of middle linebacker Mike Peterson won?t help correct this trend.

Jacksonville hasn't played under for four straight weeks but oddsmakers continue to pair low totals with the squad.

Buffalo will still be without running back Marshawn Lynch this weekend, but that should only increase the likelihood of the Bills airing it out.

Baltimore Ravens at San Diego Chargers over 38 1/2

I'm picking on another overrated defense. The one thing you could always depend on with the Ravens was a long-scoring yawner, but as Bob Dylan says, the times they are a changin'.

Baltimore's stout defenders got old quickly. The club is left with a bunch of creaky knees and bad backs.

San Diego will bounce back and find the end zone multiple times.

Miami Dolphins at Pittsburgh Steelers over 41

The Fish may be forced to put Ricky Williams back in action earlier than planned because of Jesse Chatman's sore ankle. This will be rookie quarterback John Beck?s second start and the Dolphins are curious want to see what the kid can do. My guess is Beck will be passing early and often.

The Steelers are anxious to prove last week's debacle at the Meadowlands was a fluke. Ben Roethlisberger & Co. will do their best New England impression and run up the score against an undermatched Miami team.

    Last week's record: 1-2

    Season record: 19-14

        Winnipeg (12-7-1) vs Saskatchewan (14-6)

Both second place teams get to Grey Cup final; Roughriders are 8-1 in last nine games, losing meaningless game to Toronto in last wk of regular season- they beat Winnipeg 31-26 in Regina in Week 10, then lost 34-15 in Manitoba the next week, as the Bombers racked up 488-448 total yards in the two games. Blue Bombers are 3-4-1 vs Western Division; Riders are 6-2 against the eastern teams, if you count Winnipeg as eastern team. In their visits to Toronto this seaso, Winnipeg lost both times it visited Rogers Centre, while Saskatchewan won its only visit.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers vs. Saskatchewan Roughriders (-11, 49)
          Sunday, Nov. 25, 5:30 p.m. ET

Winnipeg is 10-10 against the spread (ATS) this season including the playoffs, inferior to Saskatchewan's 12-8 ATS mark. But the Bombers covered the spread in the teams' head-to-head meetings this season, both as a 6-point underdog in Regina in Week 10 (a 31-26 Saskatchewan win on a last-second Kerry Joseph touchdown) and as a 2 ?-point home favorite a week later (a game the Bombers won 34-15).

Winnipeg is a heavy underdog on Sunday because of Glenn's broken arm. Former Boise State star Ryan Dinwiddie starts at quarterback and, if nothing else, he?s kept the press entertained throughout the week. He's confident-bordering-on-cocky and has an accurate arm, both attributes you like to see in a quarterback.

More importantly, however, Dinwiddie has proven game-breakers surrounding him on offense. None will be more important on Sunday afternoon than Charles Roberts, who finally gets a crack at a league championship.

I like Saskatchewan to walk away with the Cup on Sunday afternoon, I just don't like the Riders laying 11 points. Winnipeg's defense came up huge last week in the Rogers Centre, so expecting Saskatchewan to hang a double-digit margin of victory on Sunday is a bit unreasonable.

Picks: Blue Bombers +11 and over 49

          First quarter line: Saskatchewan -3, 9 1/2

A touchdown and three rouges for the over? Count me in!

Seriously, Dinwiddie showed no qualms about going deep in his relief appearance last week. The commentators in the CBC booth assumed Winnipeg would revert to a conservative game plan to protect the lead. But Dinwiddie showed he isn't afraid to make plays and head coach Doug Berry showed he isn't afraid to ask his young quarterback to do the same.

Saskatchewan will try to blitz Dinwiddie into submission, which should leave plenty of one-on-one situations downfield. Whether it's Milt Stegall, Derick Armstrong or Terrence Edwards, I?m counting on one of the Bombers receivers to find the end zone early.

          First-quarter picks: Blue Bombers +3 and over 9 1/2

          First half line: Saskatchewan -7, 24 1/2

Once the Bombers score early, however, I'm counting on the Riders to step up and take what the entire province of Saskatchewan has been waiting for since Dave Ridgway booted the Cup-winner in 1989.

Head coach Kent Austin quarterbacked that champion Riders squad and will make sure this year?s version plays with intensity. Austin returns to the city where he was frequently criticized as an offensive coordinator, which would make a win a little sweeter. There's no criticizing the job he has done in Regina this year. He doles out equal amounts of encouragement and criticism and has the respect of his team.

Joseph is Austin's No. 1 weapon on offense and also the No. 1 reason I like the over throughout this game. He?s the league's top run-pass double-threat and has full confidence in receivers D.J. Flick and Andy Fantuz.

The Bombers' pass defense looked vulnerable at times in Toronto last week (don't put too much stock in the final score, Michael Bishop was off on a lot of passes). As long as Joseph has quick enough feet to evade the rush, and he does, then he should be able to make hay with his receivers.

          First-half pick: over 24 1/2

          Last week: 1-1

          Year to date: 36-40

              --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pick 'n' roll: Saturday's best NBA bets

Chicago Bulls at New York Knicks (+2 ½, 188)

The last time the Knicks played at home, the crowd at Madison Square Garden was chanting “fire Isiah.” If coach Isiah Thomas doesn’t get his club back on track soon, the fans will likely get their wish.

The Windy City’s hoop squad is going through its own bit of turmoil. Head coach Scott Skiles openly questioned Tyrus Thomas’ work ethic in front of reporters earlier this week.

Thomas originally earned the starting power forward position, but the second-year player was demoted to the bench soon afterward. Though Skiles apologized for his comments, Thomas is still seeing limited playing time.

Expect the Knicks to show a small sign of life and keep the guillotine away from their coach for at least one night.

              Pick: Knicks

Toronto Raptors at Cleveland Cavaliers (N/A)

The Raptors have depth everywhere except for the center position. Rasho Nesterovic’s ankle injury has left Toronto coach Sam Mitchell scrambling for the right big man. Andrea Bargnani has assumed the center duties, but his suspect interior defense should excite Cleveland backers.

Cleveland center Zydrunas Ilgauskas is playing with an extra bounce in his step and is now the club’s secondary scorer behind LeBron James.

The game is all about matchups, and Cleveland has the edge inside.

              Pick: Cavs

Golden State Warriors at Philadelphia 76ers (+2, 205)

Philadelphia general manager Billy King has assembled a roster full of athletic wing players who can’t shoot. The unbalanced lineup has not worked thus far, evidenced by Philadelphia covering the spread just three times in its first 10 tries.

The Warriors continue their lengthy East Coast road trip. Tonight’s contest is the fifth stop in seven nights, which suggests Golden State should be breathing hard in the fourth quarter.

Andre Iguodala should fill up the box score enough for the 76ers to collect their second straight home win.

              Pick: 76ers

Boston Celtics at Charlotte Bobcats (+8, 186)

The Bobcats boast an impressive starting five outside of their man in the middle (sorry Primoz Brezec).

The bench is the team’s real sore spot. Serious preseason injuries ripped the club of valuable rotation players such as Adam Morrison and Sean May. The result is an over-dependence on the big four of Raymond Felton, Jason Richardson, Gerald Wallace and Emeka Okafor.

Boston’s role players are the difference in this contest.

              Pick: Celtics

Miami Heat at Orlando Magic (-7 ½, 181)

Dwyane Wade hasn’t regained his touch from the perimeter and that’s slowing Miami’s improvement. The Heat’s offense is completely based on Wade’s ability to break down defenders and create open shots for himself and his teammates. When the jump shot isn’t falling, opponents back off. That makes Wade’s penetration more difficult.

Orlando center Dwight Howard will outplay Miami’s Shaquille O’Neal and the Heat center will foul out by the third quarter. Miami power forward Udonis Haslem will struggle closing out Rashard Lewis and Hedo Turkoglu behind the arc.

Orlando wins and covers in the battle of Florida.

              Pick: Magic

Washington Wizards at Memphis Grizzlies (-5 ½, 216)

The Wizards are showing resiliency playing without All-Star Gilbert Arenas. “Agent Zero” is expected to miss at least another three months after undergoing knee surgery. Washington still possesses two elite scoring threats in Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison.

Memphis center Pau Gasol isn’t getting nearly enough touches under new coach Marc Iavaroni. The Spaniard should have a big game going against Washington’s frontcourt. However, he won’t be a difference maker unless he’s given the opportunity.

Kyle Lowry is a much more productive point guard than veteran teammate Damon Stoudamire. Iavaroni prefers Stoudamire because of his experience and shooting range.

              Pick: Wizards

              Atlanta Hawks at Minnesota Timberwolves (+3 ½, 190 ½)

The Timberwolves continue their drive to the league’s worst record in hopes of netting Michael Beasley or O.J. Mayo in the June draft. Al Jefferson and Rashad McCants are the lone players in Minnesota’s starting five who can create their own shot.

Though the Hawks still don’t have an answer at the point guard position, they have enough talented players to make up for the problem.

              Pick: Hawks

Denver Nuggets at Houston Rockets (-5, 200 ½)

Numerous issues have surfaced during the Rockets’ recent losing streak. The bench production has been inconsistent, head coach Rick Adelman is still unsure of his point guards and the defensive intensity the club was once known for is now a weakness.

The Nuggets have a much better grasp of their own team identity. Give the ball to Allen Iverson or Carmelo Anthony and have everybody else get out of the way.

Look for Houston to make a statement and win big over Denver.

              Pick: Rockets

Dallas Mavericks at Milwaukee Bucks (+3 ½, 203)

The Mavs have a bad habit of not showing up in the first half. Though that leads to second-half heroics, it makes covering the spread less likely. Dallas bettors would be much happier if this squad would play an entire 48 minutes and blow out the competition.

The Bucks are one of the few teams in the league with scoring at each position. Mo Williams sets the pace and has a great knack for delivering the ball to his teammates in proper situations.

Dallas wins, but Milwaukee keeps it close.

              Pick: Bucks

New Orleans Hornets at Los Angeles Clippers (+2, 188)

Chris Kaman’s dominating play in the paint is a huge reason why the Clippers are playing respectable ball. The big man has stepped up his production dramatically with Elton Brand watching from the sidelines.

Kaman can’t do it all by himself, though. Corey Maggette is out with a hamstring injury and Cuttino Mobley’s groin is acting up.

The Hornets are the second best three-point shooting team in the league and Chris Paul deserves 90 percent of the credit. Paul’s ability to drive and draw double teams leaves Peja Stojakovic and Morris Peterson with wide-open looks.

              Pick: Hornets

Washington Wizards at Memphis Grizzlies (-5 ½, 216)

Dallas Mavericks at Milwaukee Bucks (+3 ½, 203)

Atlanta Hawks at Minnesota Timberwolves (+3 ½, 203)

The Hawks swept the season series from the Timberwolves last season.

Houston won two of three games against Denver last season.

New Orleans Hornets at Los Angeles Clippers (+2, 188)

Los Angeles and New Orleans split four games last season with each winning one on the road. The Hornets' 86-83 road victory on April 18 snapped a five-game skid on the Clippers' home court in the league's final game last season.

                              UL-Monroe at Mississippi
Andy Kennedy revitalized the Rebel program last year by leading Ole Miss to a share of the Western Division title in the SEC and their first trip to the postseason since 2002. But gone are three seniors who carried the bulk of the load and Kennedy has had to rely on a more balanced attack this season. So far, so good as the Rebels are 3-0 with five players averaging in double figures. Today Ole Miss takes on a Louisiana-Monroe team that will be playing its fifth game away from home after dropping three of its first four. The Rebs look like a good pick (-16) according to Dunkel, which has Ole Miss favored by 26. Dunkel Pick: Mississippi (-16). Here are all of today's games.
