Mason allowed just 59.1 ppg last year, are always good on defense. Dayton survived Atlantic Sun team in opener beating East Tennessee 76-72; they're picked 5th in Atlantic 14.

South Carolina pounded Citadel; this will be toughest so far for their new backcourt that tranferred into Columbia, from Ga Tech and Cincinnati. USC lost to Mercer in home opener, then came east, pounded Citadel this week- they have some injury issues to deal with, but have best player on floor in Mayo. Good game

Arizona is still missing coach Olson (personal reasons); U of A beat Northern Arizona 76-69 during week, after leading by 11 at half, Wildcats lost 93-90 at Virginia LY. Cavaliers have three of its starters back from 21-11 team LY, are little bigger, still strong on perimeter. O'Neill is defensive coach moreso than Olson, so figure this game won't be 93-90 this time around.

Utah lost at Washington 83-77 Wednesday, after beating High Point night before; they have good big guy in middle, figure to improve as season goes on. Cal-Irvine lost to Nevada during week, after Anteaters beat LMU in opener 74-61. You figure the Mountain West team had class edge over Big West squad, no?

Manhattan whacked NJIT, Wagner is first two games; they've got four starters back from LY, Rohrssen's first Manhattan unit that was 10-8 in MAAC.
