I Dont Feel Its A Ridiculous Statement At All.just Merely Stating The Point You Think Of Michigan You Think Of Something That You Could Retire From.never Heard Of Anyone Saying I Want To Go To Baton Rouge Take My Family There And Retire.NOT TRYING TO PUT DOWN LOUISIANA JUST SAYING REALLY THE SEC IS THE DEATHBED FOR COACHES.NO ONE REALLY STAYS IN THE SEC COACHING THAT LONG ANYMORE.LSU IS A VERY HIGH RANKING SCOOL THAT GETS GREAT RECRUITS JUST SAYING AFTER COACHING SUCESS AT LSU YOU CAN ALWAYS FIND A MORE LUCRATIVE OR BETTER OFFER FOR YOURSELF

Two examples. Ohio State faced the same dilemma with Cooper----great overall record but never won the big one. They dumped him and it WORKED.
On the other hand, there's Mia-FL which wasn't satisfied with Coker and may be headed for years of medicrity. Another example is Texas A & M. RC Slocum had a great record but never contended for a national title. The program has been a dud ever since he left and they'll be firing Franchione any day now.
Lloyd Carr is a great recruiter. The NFL is filled with his players. The problem is he's not a good coach and always loses the big one.

Coach Carr is a helluva coach and an even better recruiter....my problem with him is that he hasnt evolved with the times and would still rather win every single game by just running the ball and playing defense. That worked great at Michigan for over 40 years but in todays game where everybody has talent you cant run them all over and Michigan doesnt open things up until they absolutely have to while other schools have these gimmicky offenses to score points and get ahead that way.
My first choice would be coach Spurrier but I doubt that he will ever want to come north but it is worth a shot.
I dont want to sound snobbish but there isnt a better job in college football then at Michigan....Michigan is the premier program....can anyone honestly remember the last time Michigan wasnt a national power?
Loyd Carr took over the program and kept it respectable for quite some time and won a national title along the way....for those that say he cant win the big one I would ask to check his record v top 10 opponents and get back to me......it has just been these last 4 seasons that he cant beat Ohio St and win the bowl game and that is where the heat comes from.
As far as I am concerned he can stay as long as he wants because I know that his replacement can run this program into the ground and then we will be wishing he was still here
PEACE

Pimp, You are in the area and you get a great local feeling on the team. I am a fan from a distance and i'm not thrilled with Carr in the last few years. Yes, overall Carr has built a nice resime there but in a what have you done for me lately world, i'm sick of losing to Ohio St and getting beat down in Bowl games by faster teams from other power conferences. Carr being (1-5) in the Last 6 against OSU and (0-4) in their last 4 BIG Bowl games makes me unhappy to be honest. Maybe not changing with the times has caught up with him, i don't know, but the next guy would carry a nice name i'm sure and he can't do much worse than (1-5) & (0-4) IMO ... I'll take my chances!
