NBA today - Tuesday, November 13

    SCOREBOARD
    Tuesday, Nov. 13
Seattle at Orlando (7 p.m. EST). Kevin Durant and the winless SuperSonics face the Southeast Division-leading Magic.

    STARS
    Monday

    - Chris Paul, Hornets, made the tiebreaking layup with 2.6 seconds left and finished with a season-high 27 points, along with seven assists and six rebounds, in an 84-82 victory at New Jersey.

-Allen Iverson, Nuggets, scored a season-high 37 points and added eight assists as Denver won its third straight, 122-100 over Cleveland.

-Carlos Boozer, Jazz, had 32 points and 10 rebounds for his seventh double-double of the season as Utah routed Sacramento 117-93 for its fourth consecutive victory.

    ONE-SIDED

Denver is 7-2 against Cleveland since Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James joined the league in 2003, following the Nuggets' 122-100 victory Monday night. The 122 points were the most Cleveland surrendered since allowing 120 to Philadelphia on Nov. 19, 2005, coach Mike Brown's first year.

    SHORT-HANDED KINGS

Sacramento center and leading rebounder Brad Miller missed Monday night's 117-93 loss at Utah with a bruised right quadriceps. Forward Ron Artest served the final game of his seven-game league suspension after pleading no contest to a domestic violence charge. Guard Mike Bibby is out until at least mid-December with a thumb injury.

    SIDELINED

Nets guard Vince Carter will be sidelined indefinitely with a sprained right ankle. An MRI on Monday revealed Carter sustained a Grade 1 sprain on Saturday night against Boston. New Jersey is 0-4 without Carter since acquiring him in 2004, following Monday night's 84-82 loss to New Orleans.

    SPEAKING

''I don't know how we won the game. These are the type of games last year we probably would have lost. It tells a lot about the resiliency we have on this team. Chris Paul wasn't having one of his best nights in terms of taking care of the ball, but man did he come up with a big steal after turning it over.'' - New Orleans coach Byron Scott after a last-second, 84-82 victory over New Jersey on Monday night.

Miikka Kiprusoff is 9-1-0 with one tie, two shutouts and a 1.62 GAA in 11 starts against the Wild at Calgary.

Montreal Canadiens at Toronto Maple Leafs (-130, 6)
Toronto is second in the East with 59 goals, but has scored just 12 in its last six games, going 2-3-1 in that span.

Ice picks: Tuesday's best hockey bets

Florida Panthers at Atlanta Thrashers (-150, 6)

Florida and Atlanta are trying to stay out of the bottom of the Southeast division and will face each other tonight in a key matchup.

With the Panthers in a back-to-back situation, it appears Craig Anderson will get the start tonight in Atlanta. Florida suffered a 4-3 loss last night against the division-leading Carolina Hurricanes.

The Thrashers should be the more rested of the two teams and will look to continue their dominance at home against the Panthers. They have won 10 of their last 11 at Philips arena against the Panthers.

Florida has been horrific on the road all season, picking up just two wins away from home to go with seven loses.

            Pick: Atlanta -150

Detroit Red Wings at St. Louis Blues (+140, 5)

These are two teams heading in opposite directions. Both teams started off hot, but the Wings have kept it going (4-1 in their last five) while the Blues (1-4 in their last five) have cooled off considerably.

Dominik Hasek picked up a 4-1 victory last Friday over the Columbus Blue Jackets then watched on Sunday as Osgood and the Wings lost to the Blackhawks 3-2. It appears Babcock will use both goalies for now and Hasek will get the nod tonight in St. Louis.

The Dominator has played well against the Blues, going 6-2-2 with a 1.86 goals against average in 10 starts.

Henrik Zetterberg has also had the Blues' number. He has 29 points against them in 24 career games. The crafty forward is riding an impressive point streak that has spanned all 17 games this season.

            Pick: Detroit -160

Los Angeles Kings at Anaheim Ducks (-160, 5 1/2)

This matchup pits two teams who are looking to gain momentum after inconsistent early-season play.

Both teams are coming off late-game comeback wins. Anaheim?s Andy McDonald tied the game up late in San Jose before converting on the shootout winner, while Los Angeles relied on a slew of players to forge their late game victory in Dallas.

The Kings were down by four goals midway through the third period and rallied with five goals to take the lead and go on to win 6-5 in overtime.

Tonight's game reeks of the over. It will be an intense matchup between division rivals heading into a home-and-home. Both teams are battling poor goaltending and both teams are coming off scoring outbursts.

The Kings have played over the total in each of their last four road games. The over is also 13-3 in the last 16 meetings in Anaheim.

            Pick: Over 5 1/2

                            Dunkel

                            Wyoming at Denver
The Cowboys have a new head coach in Heath Schroyer, who replaced Steve McClain after nine seasons. One thing Schroyer will want to improve on is Wyoming's play on the road last season when they went 1-7 against Mountain West competition and just 5-13 overall. Playing in Denver looks to help as the Pioneers finished 4-25 last season and lost by 30 (80-50) to Oklahoma on Friday. Wyoming looks like the pick (-9) in this one according to Dunkel, which has the Cowboys favored by 15. Dunkel Pick: Wyoming (-9). Here are all of today's games.

                                Los Angeles at Anaheim
The Ducks were dominated by the Kings (4-1) in the first game of the season when the two teams played in England. And while Anaheim came back to win the second game by the same 4-1 score, the team has failed to capture the same momentum that carried them to the Stanley Cup last year. The Kings come into this contest fresh off their comeback win over Dallas in which they overcame a four-goal deficit midway through the third period. Their five goals came in the span of 5:07 and needed just six shots. With the offense clicking, the Kings look like a good underdog pick (+140) tonight according to Dunkel, which has LA favored straight up by 1 1/2. Dunkel Pick: Los Angeles (+140). Here are all of today's games.
