-- Boston College beat New Hampshire by 10 in its opener; they have three starters back from 21-12 team, are picked 10th in the 12-team ACC. FAU got crushed at Rhode Island Friday, 104-61.
-- New Mexico State is picked to win WAC; they lost 80-72 (+3) in opener at Ohio. Duke beat NC Central (who?) 121-56 Friday; Blue Devils are smallish, but still picked to finish 2nd in ACC.
-- LMU (+9.5) lost 74-61 at Irvine Friday; they lost four starters from LY's 13-18 team. Ark-Little Rock has four starters back, but they'll need to shoot better- they shot 32% from arc last year.
-- Hampton has all five starters back from 15-16 team that had a 10-8 record in league LY; they upset Tulsa Sunday, to get here. Maryland gets two players back who were suspended Sunday.
-- Columbia (+4.5) lost 79-61 at home to Fordham Friday, in its opener; they have all five starters back from LY. Delaware State lost four starters from 21-12 team LY, expects to be down in '08.
-- Ohio State lost exhibition to D-II Findlay; they have only one starter back from LY's Final Four team. Green Bay beat Oakland 76-75 in its opener Friday- they're picked 2nd in the Horizon.
-- Siena (-4) lost 100-88 at James Madison in opener, after being up by hoop at half. Syracuse has only one scholarship senior; they lost three starters from LY, but have talented freshmen.
-- St Joe's has four starters back from 18-14 team; they're picked second in A-14, are experienced, but were disappointing in '07. FDU is picked 10th in NEC; they lost three starters from LY.
-- Pacific beat Western Michigan 90-76 Saturday, lost 80-64 last night at Oregon; they're #3 pick in Big West. Pepperdine lost at Oregon by 30 Saturday, then lost 70-65 lto Western Michigan.
-- Western Michigan split its first two games, losing to Pacific after being up 33-30 at half; they beat Pepperdine Sunday 70-65 Oregon won both its games, 100-70 (Pepperdine)/80-64 (Pacific)
-- Central Michigan has four starters back from 13-18 team that was Ziegler's first at CMU; they're picked 2nd in MAC West. Missouri has four starters back from 18-12 team (also eight of top nine scorers). Tigers are picked 6th in Big 12.
-- UCLA (-23.5) beat Portland State 69-48 Friday night, as injury issues have hurt their depth early on. Youngstown lost two of league's top six scorers, are picked to finish last in the Horizon.
-- Florida State beat Nicholls State 81-58 Friday; they have four starters back from LY, are picked 8th in ACC. Georgia Southern has senior PG, is picked 2nd in its half of Southern Conference.
-- Chattanooga likes to play fast; they're picked in middle of the Southern. Eric Gordon makes Indiana debut here; Hoosiers are picked 9th nationally, with three starters back from 21-11 team.

-- Eastern Washington (+25.5) lost 68-41 at Washington St. on Friday. New Mexico (-2) won its opener under Alford 54-47 at Colorado Friday. EWU was mediocre even with Stuckey, who got picked in first round of NBA Draft.
