I have always tried to be the voice of reason, and avoided making proclamations of things being over before they are actually over, but true to my word, I can admit when I am wrong.
And it has been A LOT lately. ( Ask my grinning book!)
But the Boston Celtics were the best team in the league all season, and proved it again in the take-all-comers post season. I stated before the season started that I thought it a bit premature to crown them, simply on the basis of some off season moves, which turned out to be brilliant. I didn't see it, as I stated in post #1, for a variety of reasons, but had I been able to foresee the kind of shutdown clamp DEFENSE that they used to coast to the crown, I would never have doubted.
I don't believe in the preseason forecasts in any sport, as they are usually made by writers who suffer from the bandwagon mentality, while perched on the armchair , notebook in lap.
The consensus was the Mets would coast to the NL title, and Detroit the AL, with Seattle right behind. Tampa was to fill their usual spot in the Eastern Cellar. I use the baseball example as the most recent and current of examples of soothsayers gone awry.
Boston was the rare example of a team meeting, and dare I say, exceeding expectations.
I was wrong. I can admit it.
I had to put up with a lot of classless bullshit and name calling just for sticking my neck out to make a point, or state an opinion. But I live on.
I have seen enough in these playoffs, and this series, to say,
It is not too early to crown the Boston Celtics, who at this writing , are up 2 games to 1.
LA will not cover a game in this series, which Boston wins in 5 or 6 games.
GOOD CALL GRANDPA ON LA NOT COVERING AND ENDING IN 5 OR 6 !!
DON'T YOU EAT THE YELLOW SNOW !! PS-MARVIN LOVES SPLIT SALAD !!
