Major pet peeve of mine...when fans blame officials and/or injuries. Every team has injuries and every team benefits/suffers from bad calls...if you are going to blame a lose on a bad call or an injury, then you weren't good enough to win.

Denver got screwed on the call...too bad. If they hadn't fumbled at the one or punched it in at the end of the game, you wouldn't even mention it.

And every game in every sport has bad calls...find me one game that was called perfectly...and that includes the no calls that were penalties. it works both ways.

As I Have Stated Before I Am A High School Ref And Let Me Get This Point Out.in No Way I Mean No Way Can 1 Penalty Make A Team Lose The Game.there Are Over 100 Offensive Plays Throughout The Entire Game That They Could Break A Td On Or Even Throw A 89 Yd Td.because A Flag Is Thrown On That Play That Resulted In A Td Did Not Cost Anyone The Game,its The Other 99 Plays Where They Did Not Move The Ball.

That was my point as well buddy. No one penalty has ever won or lost a game that i've watched. Something tells me that the other 59:50 of the game had more to do with why you lost.

Im not blaming the ref's for anything, i never blame ref's for anything, as I too believe a blown call doesnt cost the game, calls go your way and your like, oh man, that was awesome because it so shouldnt have been called that way. My logic is that teams dont show up to play football when they have one game a fucking week. ONE GAME A WEEK. Its not like a baseball team that has 5 to 6 games a week, its ONE GAME A WEEK. When I bet on NFL its almost like teams dont show up to play. In no circumstance should Chicago Bears have beaten the Green Bay packers that week a few weeks back on the road. That should have not happened. Talk about matchups all you want and how some teams match up diff with others, thats a bunch of BS because if anything, that should be one of Green Bays 6 wins this year, not last night. Denver royally suck dick... Jay Cutler is a primed quarterback from Vanderbilt. Thats awesome news, you have a starting quarterback in the ELITE NFL from Vanderbilt University. EXCELLENT. No wonder he sucks so much. There is no reason why on the last play before the field goal at the end of the game Cutler should have ran the ball, there's no way. They had one more play to the endzone there was 22 seconds left. Instead, Cutler runs the ball, are you kidding me? Then the fumble at the 1 yard line by the same fuckbag, it wasnt the refs, it wasnt the refs by any means it was the lack of pass defense on Denver and the brilliant quarterback named Jay Cutler. No idea how he can put up stats against Pittsburgh and not against Green Bay. Green Bay is by no means an elite team in the NFL either.

But a lot of your points were brought up by others in this thread. I understand the frustration but shouldn't have happened doesn't matter. If you don't bring an A game and keep turnovers to a minimum, you will lose in the NFL. It's just the way it is. Otherwise you'd just not bother playing these games and you'd just play them 'on paper.' Cutler's mistakes were annoying, but those were just part of the problem. He is just 24 and has roughly 1 season's worth of games under his belt now. The blame for Denver's shortcomings in this game should certainly be spread around. Dropped passes, missed blocks, and Shanahan's 'offensive genius' playcalling were all part of this recipe. I mean they called a running play from their own 40 on the second play of their 2 minute drill! True, the refs missed some calls but that's bound to happen. There were likely penalties not called on some of Denver's (and Green Bay's) plays that should have been. It's a tough league because even if you have a perfect game plan or your talent seems to be better than another team's, turnovers and mistakes can throw the whole matchup thing out the window...

I didn't bet the game, so here's an unbiased opinion. The refs in the NFL are either retarded or 90 years old. So many horrible calls, just compounded with the fact that they have instant replay. Why bother, they look at the tape and still fuck up the call. At least in the NBA when they look at the replay they get it right. We all watch only a hand full of games, because they're on at the same time, but I can only imagine how many bad calls are made, because there only a few games, comparably speaking, that I watch, and the calls and follow up calls after replays are horrific. How about Tom Brady and the tuck rule?

I agree and I disagree.

In the average game there's about 120 plays. The deciding factor of a game shouldn't be determined by one play.

Here's where I disagree. There have been games where one late call has determined the outcome of the game. A Houston Oilers vs. Steelers playoff game about 20 years ago was one such game. The Oiler receiver caught a winning TD. After some discussion the refs ruled the receiver out of bounds. The receiver was clearly in bounds.

Another is Don Denkinger's incorrect safe call at first base in the 9th inning during the 1985 WS. It greatly influenced the outcome of that game.

IMO it's naive to suggest refs/umps can't determine the outcome of a game.

The Seattle/Pitt SB was a joke. That non-INT in the Indy/Pitt game was another joke. It was poetic justice that Pitt won that game.

It has a cost a team real big. It cost Houston in a playoff game about 20 years ago.

Sometimes it's worse at the games than what we see on TV. In last seasons Manning Bowl the late offensive interference call on the Giants was a horrible call. What most TV viewers weren't aware the call was made by a ref 30 yards away from the play while the ref 10 yards away made no call. WHY? What can a ref 30 yards away possible see that a ref from 10 yards didn't????

My biggest complaint about NFL refs has always been the use of 60+ year old men to officiate games played by superior athletes. The athletes are too big and too quick for the refs to 'compete' with on the field. The refs are too often out of position. They need full time refs comprised mostly of athletes in their 30s.

Thats funny. I have been thinking the same thing for years. The old eyes can't keep up with the speed of the game on the field.

You're over-looking two very important factor.

First, the opposing team. The opposing team has lots to do with how a team performs. Teams are often flat. Teams are often outplayed for various reasons.

Second, sports are played by humans. Humans with emotions. Human that make mistakes. Players peak. Players slump. It's the nature of sports. It's irrational to expect players to perform at peak levels each and every game, each and every play. There's peaks and valleys in every game and every season.

GB did show up vs. Bears. They dominated the first half. They dominated most offensive stats. Total yards 439 vs. 285. Rushing yards 121 v. 82. Passing yards 318-203. You can't suggest they were a no-show that game. Turnovers and penalties killed them. Human errors. They happen.

Hokie, good points. Also, teams/players force mistakes. Especially, with 24 year old QBs.

And sometimes freakish events take place such as Denver's fumble on the goal line. It wasn't really anyone's fault. It's one of those freak things that happen.

At the time it was not the correct call. The rule was changed because of that play.

And I agree. It's a horrible rule.
