"""Ohio St looked awful @ Home against Michigan St and didn't come close to covering. Should we drop them from #1 like 10 or 15 now"""

Looking much closer...Ohio St domintated the MSU game. Sparty ran 7 plays in OSU territory and had 180 yards total. 2 plays got MSU the cover, but OSU dominated from start to finish.
"""Yes, i did see the N.D. game where they were favored by -13.5 and won by 13. Were they supposed to win by 40?""""

BC had thousands of chances up and down the field to blowout ND. Couldnt put them away on the road. Hell it was a 7 pt game in the 2nd half! That shows me they aren't as tough as I thought they were and a road game at VT is tough.

"""Well when they met Ga. Tech is all that matters"""

Who cares if GT was ranked #10 or not ranked when they played them? Right now GTech is what they are, and that is a half decent ACC team thats going nowhere. So, no, I dont count GT as a "tough" road win.

Im lookin at a team's schedule for overall difficulty and specifically at BC's road games. The fact they beat GTech 24-10 is a nice win, but whether they used to be ranked Top 15 or whatever is now meaningless when looking at BC's chances tomorrow.

QB is an issue for VTech, and Im not betting VTech as my play of the year or anything, but seriously Wayne, which one of BC's last month worth of games impress you? UMass, NC State, BG, ND. Toss in VTech revenge from last year (near same spot, reversed).

Also, doesn't that line seem slightly odd to anyone else?#2 team in the nation, undefeated, whipped VT last year....and they are getting 3??? Over 50% of the tickets coming in are on BC, which is a ton for a dog........seems to me like Vegas is looking for BC money.

They have won every single game put in front of them this year by DD. Twist that any way you want but it is a fact. What more do you want from them to impress you? They started the season ranked about 40th and they are at No. 2

Obviously many others are impressed with what they have done so far this year so arguing with you about it is obviously getting me nowhere. GL

Very true, and I dont think they are a bad football team, but this could also be said of South Florida and look what happened to them last Thursday. BC went from 40 up to 2 b/c they have taken advantage of what theyve faced...I give them props. I just dont think this is a great spot for them.

I know you are a Boston man, and by looking at this poll I see that lots of people think they get it done tomorrow. It should be a great game, but I think VTech comes out on top b/c they are more battle tested this year and playing at home.......Thats all I was saying from the get go!!!

I live 2 states away from Massachusetts and BC is not my team. Now that you know my opinion was unbiased, maybe you will see it differently.

                VTech

I like VT and here is why.............. Beamer Ball !
first let me state that I am not arguing or telling anyone that they are wrong.....this is How I look at this game........

let me take you back to october 6th, clemson south carolina, otherwise known as "death valley" at oh let's say 6:00 pm (Night game in death valley)

I see alot of people putting emphasis on starting quarterback and I don't know why, no matter who has been in they win, the only loss was at The bigger Death Valley, LSU @ night (look it up how many home night games does LSU lose, right almost none) anyway back to clemson S.C

First drive of the game D.J parker interception returned for a touchdown 7-0 VT. Third drive of the game clemson punts and VT runs it back for 33 yds to Clemson 42, 1 complete pass for 20 yards and 2 runs for a yard each and it's 10-0 VT. (so far it is 10-0 and the quarterback completed 1 pass for 20 yds) The next drive Clemson goes 3 and out, so they punt and Eddie Royal returns it 82 yards to the house for a Touchdown and now it's 17-0 VT. I believe on the 10th or 11th drive clemson started from there own 42, they put a little drive together and kicked a field goal, 17-3 VT. ON the following kickoff Victor "macho" Harris returns the kick for 100 yards to the house, touchdown, 24-3 VT. So it's 24-3 VT and the quarterback completed 1 pass for 20 yards. That is the definition of Beamer Ball. I could go on to tell you that on VT next offensive possession they took a safety to make it 24-5, but then you would not expect them to put a 49 yard touchdown drive together, to make it 31-5.

Here is the point. At the time Clemson was ranked #22 in the country, they had an extremely athletic offensive line, just like B.C. They had the biggest two headed rushing monster in college football with james davis and C.J spiller, and just about the whole defense from last year except Gaines Adams. They were rolling over everyone until VT showed up. The final score was 41-23, and that is with tech letting in a score at the end with backups. The 24 points that the defense and special teams got in the first and second quarter was enough to win the game 24-23 and the quarterback completed 1 pass for 21 yards. Beamer ball quarterbacks don't matter. Tech has never put emphasis on that position, why would they now, Michael Vick went to VT because he wanted to, It's not like they try to recruit big time QB's they could care less, load up on defense, running backs, good kickers and pure speed and you will be in good shape, just ask Frank Beamer.

With all this said I must admit that Matt Ryan is a very solid QB, but not the best one VT has faced, That was Matt Flynn at LSU. Cullen Harper coming into the VT game was 92/145 with 10 touchdown passes and 1 interception. That is pretty good too. Bottom line is B.C wins at QB position and VT wins the special teams position. Recievers are the same, and running game is about the same, maybe a slight edge to B.C So Give me the intangibles Give me Frank Beamer and Virginia Tech at home in Lane Stadium on Thursday night on ESPN.

Clemson finished that game with 11 more first downs, 160 yards more of total offense, 307 yards more in passing offense, and they had the time of possession by 5 minutes. The only 2 categories tech won was rushing yards 154-8 yes outgained by 146 on the ground and turnovers VT 3 Clemson 0
and CLEMSON WAS HOME AT NIGHT !

stanford downed #2 USC at home 2 weeks ago, Rutgers downed #2 south florida last week, and I'll take tech to down #2 B.C this week whoever moves into that spot looks cursed. (W.V was also downed when they hit#2 earlier in the year)

sorry for writing a novel guys, I got wrapped up

Let's just play the under and all make money. The crowd will be into it so play calling will be tough for BC against a great defense. VT has QB problems along with a pretty tough BC defense. So under the 43 line sounds too strong not to take and a side seems to be at the line price at present and a weak wager.

                                Vondie,
Strong thoughts from you and I appreciate them, but I will pose the same question to you, which one of BCs wins was that great? I believe BC is a good team and has the shot to run over the ACC, but this is a tough match up for them and the start of the real test for them. I could make the argument that BC is untested as well up until now. No, this Hokie team is not great/good of years past, but they also carried a heavy heart this year to start the season. It is not an excuse, but the truth; these are kids that had the focus of the entire Hokie Nation tossed on them. I don't know about you, but that shit is heavy for anyone, let alone kids coming out of high school living on their own for the first time.

The Hokie schedule has been kind to them but exactly what they needed. They have gotten better each week, imo. Yes, their offense blows, but the defense is playing with gusto. Yes, the defense makes mistakes but they have gotten that lunch pail mentality back after the woodshed beating from LSU. I think you have a focused defensive team that can keep them in any game.

Now, I will not advocate taking the Hokies as they very well could lose this game and the numbers I am seeing give hint to that. Plus, BC always gives us problems, but the shoe is on the other foot this time as BC is on top and we are below (much different from years past). IMO, pressure on the Eagle to perform. They are talented as all hell and experienced, but they do have a rookie head coach. This game can go either way, but I give home field and Thursday night edge to the Hokies.

I like your style and thoughts, just trying to add some more viewpoints in the mix. Good luck tonight, but as an alum/fan, I gotta root for my boys tonight to get it done, GO HOKIES!

PS, Va Tech always loses a home game, but I don't think it is tonight. My prediction, we lose to the God awful Semipoles in November.
