  • My First FFL, any Experts have words of widom?

    I am in my first FFL...draft is Wednesday. C B S S P O R T S L I N E rules, 13 teams, 16 rounds. I know to leave kickers and defense for the last 2 - 3 rounds.

My eyes burn from researching websites and crap.

Any other good general rules for a rookie?

A lot of it depends on the scoring system. RB, RB, RB, is how it mostly goes. Look out for taking too many star players. They get you to the playoffs, but when those playoffs start those star players sit in the later weeks costing you the championship.

So, here is one important question. 16 players on the roster with 9 active each week. Of the 9 (and I am sure this is mostly the same everythwere) we need active:
      1 QB
      2 RB
      2 WR
      1 TE
      1 K
      1 D/ST
      1 WR/RB/TE

How many at each position is the ideal roster? I imagine it would look like this:
      3 QB
      5 RB
      4 WR
      1 TE
      1 K
      2 D/ST

Would this be the right roster?

I would see which one had a bye 1st between TE & K. Get a backup there and when you are done using him, drop him and get a backup to cover the other bye which is next. 3 QB's is too much imo. That 3rd guy is just useless unless an injury happens and if it does, you fix it then (imo).

Thanks Wayne...but you would def pick 2 defenses, correct?

Think RBs. A lot depends on your draft position, but go for RBS early. As for QBs, there are only about 4 that are worth a look early (P. Manning, Brees, Palmer and Brady). If those guys are gone, I'd wait for a QB in the mid-rounds. Make sure you dont have too many players on the same bye week.

Depends on how many teams there are. If it's a 12-team league, then I wouldn't bother picking up a 2nd defense, just pick one off the waiver wire when your team has a bye. I'd rather waste the roster spot on a sleeper runningback or wide receiver who could pan out.
