So I ask you, why can I not challenge Torre's use of his bullpen without being ungrateful but you can challenge Tito's?

Plus what do resumes have to do with it?

Torre brought us 4 championship and I am thankful for all of them.

Tito brought you the most important in Boston history. That should give him a lifetime pass in Boston.....right?
Tony, Yankee fans have been bitching about Torre for the last 3-4 years and all we ever here about is if he is/was going to get fired. How many Division Titles did he win in that time? I know, i know, WS are all that matters but before Torre got there, the playoffs were the goal, not the WS.

They may mean nothing to Yankee fans because it is "Expected" every year. They mean alot on this side of the fence.

The more they treat these pitchers with caution the less tolerance they will have when a manager puts his foot on the gas and hence they try and never do that (dont wanna lose their job)

I would love for someone to find out what the most pitches Nolan Ryan ever threw in a game.

              PEACE

You got it right pimp;it is shocking how all players including pitchers are handled with kid gloves.
If I were an owner and payong these guys umpteen millions, I wouldn't stand for a lot of what i say going on today.

So you are telling me Boston fans were happy all those years they made the playoffs and lost?

                  Come on.

Playoffs are exciting and of course I want to be there every year but I still would trade all of the last 6 just to win the Game 7 in Zona.

I can't speak for all Yankee fans but I love Torre. I just hate how he manages the bullpen. A lot of Yankee fans probably do want him fire. However, a lot of Yankee fans are only fans cause they spend money and win. They aren't true fans.

Boston and NY fans have never had the same mentality Tony. We both know that. When you havn't won the division for 11 straight years while continuing to finish 2nd, yes, the Division is something every fan up here wants to win. Does it mean we would be satisfied at that point? Hell no, but a division title is a division title and it guarantees a nice playoff spot and a good feeling going in to the playoffs.

Tony-as usual you are 100% in your assessment.
If a starting pitcher can toil for 7 or eight innings or perhaps even complete a game, is it really asking too much in such an important situation such as existed tonight to ask one of the best closers in baseball to come out to pitch the ninth inning even though "the poor baby" pitched an inning or so in the first game?
Equally as bad was bringing the guy who has been AWFUL of late;do that if you must against Tampa Bay but NOT against one of the best teams in baseball!!!

You are right about our mentalities being different.

For me, divison titles have led to dismantlings by the Angels and Tigers while also providing the biggest choke and most hurtful loss a fan has ever suffered from a baseball game. However, you are right that I would rather suffer those then not be there at all. HOW BITTERSWEET IT IS!!!!!!

                                Tony V.

It also guarantees home field over the Yankees if the Sox win the division and have to face NY. I know, it didn't matter in '04 but given the choice, we would all like game 7 in our park. There are some advantages to winning the division that we have yet to enjoy in awhile.
