I feel your pain pimp. I started crying when i saw Gagne warming up but i knew that was the plan coming in. At least they used Papelbon in the 8th today.
Terrible managing-let Gagne get his confidence back in a non pressure situation but NOT after a big rally in the 8th to put Sox ahead and NOT against a very good team like the Angels;he should have been taken out after the game was tied at the very latest;if they lose, I blame it 100% on Francona.

EXACTLY!!!
It's the Jimmy Fund telethon and you have the sweep sitting right in your lap. You have to nail this down and rest Papelbon tomm.

I don't think Tito blew it in the 2nd game. He f'd up in the first game. He had no other option other than Gagne. I trust Timlin as much as I trust Gagne.
I can understand the argument but I have no issue with it. Neither one of them are good options right now. But that is why you build up 14 game leads, so you can blow a couple!

Who would you have put in?
You mean to say that Papelbon can't come in because he pitched part of the eigth and the ninth inning in the first game?
Have times have changed so much that someone can't come in to pitch an inning or two in BOTH games?
Its not like asking him to start both games;I think Francona blew it-thats it in my opinion.
I'm not buying it either 3J. Papelbon has already pitched alot less innings this year than last and this is a time when you simply need to use him. Maybe up 3 i would throw Gagne out there, not up 1.

Savage, as a Sox fan I am sure you read all of the stories in Spring training about Papelbon's shoulder and that the Doctors recommended that he start and not pitch in relief. They said the inconsistent patterns of getting up and down and up and down and up and down would not be good for his shoulder as he has something structurally wrong with it. The normal schedule of being a started was what they recommended. I'll try to find the article.

That had to be one of the WORST decisions Francona has made in the entire season.
You rally bigtime to take the lead in the eighth and you bring in your BEST to close it out when the other team is down;you DON'T gamble with someone who has been horrible of late!!!

Yes, i believe with that rally and the emotion in the team at that point, you had to seal the deal with Pap. Enough is enough. If he has arm problems, than that's why you got Gagne. It's one fucken inning and Francona is really making me ill lately .......
Here's one of the articles. Understand that I don't necessarily agree with it, I just don't know why everyone is surprised this he isn't pitching as much as a regular closer.
