  • boxing, fight, fight

well I still have not seen a post for fights other than my last one so I guess I will just tell you guys what I think about tonight, follow if you wish.........

    Boxing/MMA 8-2
    MLB 4-1
    soccer 2-0

Ronald "winky Wright - 140 VS Bernard Hopkins

I will keep this short and sweet as I do not think many people are interseted in this....... First off on styles and history alone this is an even fight. wright 53-3-1 and hopkins is 47-4-1 they both are very defensive fighters, with no real knockout power in any one punch....... Here is what is not even wright age 35, hopkins is age 42, even though wright is moving up a weight class to fight him, I don't think it will matter. You can't be 7 years older than an opponent that is a mirror image of you, or maybe you can I guess I will find out, anyway I thought this was good value at -140 as I just don't see any way 42 years hangs with 35 years for 12 rounds.
wright wins a unanimous decision in my book.
    Good luck to all
p.s wasn't going to post, but after what happened at the weigh in I just think hopkins is flat out scarred. (a little pre fight fighting)

with hopkins it is not a question of being in shape...he is not a regular 42 yr old.....conditioning will NOT be a question...he is a young 42...never gets hit...very slick counterpuncher and showed Tarver that he still has zip in his hands.....

As far as being scared....that is comical....

I am not saying he is going to win because in my estimation it is toooo close to call....I also do not think they are a mirror image at all.....

Winky as he has aged has become more flat footed and has found his power doing so whereas bernard is very angular and hard to hit......He is a master at minimizing movement and still not getting hit (never overreacts.....only other guy i see that slips so little and never gets hit is James Toney)

Bottom line: It is going to probably be a boring fight in my opinion......both guys are slick pros.....

toss up...edge hopkins on a split decision

also do not underestimate the difference in size......means alot when going up in size........

Hey tony I appreciate your opinions bud, I also think it will be very boring fight too, you sort of made my one point for me when you say hopkins is angular, yes he is and if wright has half a brain left in his head he will notice that 42 year olds can't take BODY shots, He can be the youngest 42 year old on the planet, If wright works the body, he should win, Now if he tries to trade punches with hopkins , your right I think hopkins could take it. Tony you seem into the fights, Now can you tell me the last time you saw bernard hopkins have to result to a mocking job at the weigh in. We all know fighters talk smack all day every day, but hopkins usualyy does not resort to that kind of behavior at a weigh in, maybe in interviews, but not at the weigh in.....

hey tony size won't matter bud, even though wright is moving up. They both weigh in at 170 lbs, but did you know that when he is not in training wright walks around at 190 lbs, yea I know It shocked me too. 190 ?

i have been around the fight game a long time Pain.....Hopkins act is not about being a fighter.....he is a promoter now....much to do about nothing other than try to sell tix to a fight that has no pizazz

nobody has ever been able to get to hopkins body....my point is that he fights angles meaning that he is rarely square and rarely gets hit........do not kid yourself into thinking these guys are going to trade......hopkins is the king of counterpunching.....watch how tight hjis elbows are into his body......he is the master.......winky is not far behing but has been caught flush before....

the losses that bernard hopkins suffered (1st one i thought her won over JT)...second one he started too late, but had not marks on his face yet JT did.....

I saw the executioner dismantle Tito in NYC in 2001 and he is awesome.....

I know he is 42.....but he is like a 32 yr old running back who only gets the ball 6 times a game.....lot more left in the tank than a guy like earl campbell......

i think it can go either way and it is now winky -160......

but i still contend that conditioning will not be a factor and i respectfully disagree with the body work assessment......

              bernards defense is too tight.....

shorter and heavier in the feet....also giving away 3-4" on reach but that is an overated stat as angular fighters cut that distance theory to shreds

I did play it, and let me tell you something, hopkins is one dirty mofo, he's trying to head butt his way to victory.
