and no, i hate barry, but as a dodgers fan...

just out of curiousity, from earlier banter...clemens is 2-4 with a 4.20 era...not much of a savior...don't know about you, but i think i could have spent money a little bit better...what the hell do i know...

Just a total prick and when you add the ex girlfriend saying he did it (i know an axe to grind right?), they wrongly thought that about Canseco too and most of that now seems real. Added to the trainer refusing to talk in prison (Why would he sit there unless he was hiding something?). Add the Admitted USING of the clear that put 2 others in the pen (For talking), and add the steroid like attitude towards the world and it is sooooooo easy to hate him for many.

Didn't his shoe size went from like a 12 to like a 16 or something?

Muscleman----these are the top hitters in 1915, when the ball was soft like a fvkn sock, original wood bats, no cork or fancy trim/shapes, just wood, lots of the Parks had no fences......

They had some pretty damn good pitchers also in that time........No steroids, just beer bellies, hangovers, and they played cause they loved the game, and it wasn't full of EGOS.....

You can't compare old days to modern days, as it's been tried before.......But to try and say they weren't any good, and a novice could make the Majors in 1915, is a ridiculous statement....kapt

Here's a list of the terrible ass Pitchers......

1915----No juiced balls, no cork bats, and most importantly, no steroids......Just men playing a kids game, and loving it....

You'll never see these days again, they're gone, so let's try and keep em in the proper perspective.........

They also had no such thing as early relievers, middle relievers, late relievers, and closers in those days....

On one day in a doubleheader, 2 men pitched both games of the double header against each other for their respective teams......They split 3-0 and 2-5..Thus both pitchers were 1-1, pitched 18 innings, and each gave up 5 runs in 18 innings....2.50 ERA.......Then went to their locker room, took their shower, and got ready for the next game.....Neither of these guys had locker room privileges like a Big TV, Double Recliners, signs saying off limits to Reporters and fans.....

In those days, they spent hours after the games, signing autographs and visiting with the fans......That's what made MLB baseball what it is today......Not the Big salaries, and steroids....kapt

If Babe Ruth had used steroids, he would have hit 950 home runs (based on a conservative evaluation of how Bonds numbers improved after he started using), Hank Aaron would have hit 1000 and Willie Mays would have hit 900.

I agree Bonds is not the only CURRENT user. What's wrong with denigrating all of the current users............................................. .................................................. ........including Walter Payton?

I agree Kapt & Gris...it's a crying shame what has happen to the game. I wish I could have lived during those times....simpler times. Everything so fast paced and complicated today...everybody out to make a buck. These guys won't sign unless they get paid.

Before you go on a tirade, Bonds has never been linked to roids (by solid proof other than speculation) like Clemens, but kind of funny that a guy is better at 44 than 34 like Clemens...neither have been caught...but the point is why point fingers when your idol/savior (whatever you called him earlier in the year) is potentially as guilty...
I agree. I've said for years Clemens is a roid user.

                      2-378 Gehrig
                      3-302 Foxx
                      4-300 Hornsby

                      8-242 Ott
                      9-232 Klein
                      10-218 Goslin

Gehrig ended up with 493 when he retired in 1938, 221 behind the Babe. That's 31% more than 2nd on the list for Ruth's era.

Bonds will probably end up with about 15-20% more than 2nd place for his era (ahead of Sosa), which is respectable, but nothing compared to Ruth. It's really all a moot point, as A-Rod will destroy the record and go down as the second best of all time...behind Ruth of course.
                      WOW great post.

In my book Ruth is and will always be the greatest
