1) I get tired of hearing the talking heads on TV and radio saying that the Yankees cannot catch the Sox, that their only hope is for the Wild Card? Uh, come again? With 98 and 97 games left for the two division rivals, and it is June 15th, they are separated by 7.5 games.
I should say I am not a fan of either team, but with Yanks on 10-game win streak, and Boston off of two losses to Colorado at Fenway, by a cumulative score of 19-3, I think it would be insane, and irrational, at best, to award the division crown to Red Sox nation in mid-June.
2) Why isn't Guy V Lewis in the Basketball Hall of Fame? He took 5 teams to the Final Four, placed 3 players on the NBA's "50 Greatest of All-Time Team" ( only Dean Smith can make the same claim), and helped put cbb on the sports map by hosting top-ranked UCLa and Lew Alcindor in the Astrodome in 1968 before 52,000 + fans. Yes , I know he blew the '83 title game v Valvano & Co, but should that exclude him from the overdue recognition for his contributions to the sport? Anyone who saw Olajuwon play as a freshman can attest that Lewis was a fine teacher.
3) It drives me absolutely crazy when sports bettors cry "fix" everytime their bet loses on a late shot, foul, turnover, or misssed shot, whatever. Has it ever occurred to these delusional degenerates that maybe, just maybe these linesmakers who make their living at setting a line on every game on the board, are actually very good at what they do? And how much collusion would it take for these players, coaches, and officials to make or miss shots, which is hard enough to do w/o the interference? And how much money would it take to coerce guys making 5-10 mil per to take a dive? Puh-leeze. And my favorite is the amount of credit these losing bettors give these players for being star mathematicians, not to mention being able to calculate 2H #s and totals, especially given that long 15-minute halftime that takes a couple of minutes to establish the #, then a frenzied negotiating period with the "fixers."

I hope nobody minds, but I like to toss out random sports-related topics, specifically on silly nonsensical things that get under my skin. More tomorrow.
