    Weekend Sports Preview

The NBA Finals will cap a busy weekend around the sports world after a steady diet of interleague baseball, the Belmont Stakes, AFL, WNBA, and both NASCAR and Formula 1.

LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers tip off against Tim Duncan and the Spurs in Game 2 in San Antonio on Sunday night after getting two days off to recover from a hard-fought battle in the opener on Thursday.

Major League Baseball revisits interleague play this weekend with a number of top-notch matchups. The cream of the interleague crop appears to be the Mets at Detroit, Cleveland at Cincinnati, Boston at Arizona, Oakland at San Francisco and Toronto at the Dodgers. The rest of the interleague schedule includes Colorado at Baltimore, Tampa Bay at Florida, Pittsburgh at the Yankees, Washington at Minnesota, Philadelphia at Kansas City, the Angels at St. Louis, Houston at the White Sox, Milwaukee at Texas and Seattle at San Diego. The lone National League series has the Cubs visiting Atlanta.

The 193rd running of the Belmont Stakes hits Belmont Park on Saturday night, and although a Triple Crown winner is not in the cards there is still plenty of interest surrounding both Preakness winner Curlin and Kentucky Derby runner-up Hard Spun.

It’s a busy Week 15 in the AFL this weekend, especially on a jam-packed Saturday. There’s only one game on tap for Friday night, as Kansas City takes on Columbus (+1). There are six games on the Saturday schedule including Orlando at New York (-1), Philadelphia at Tampa Bay (+3), Grand Rapids at Chicago (-12), Georgia at Austin (+6), New Orleans at Dallas (-14.5) and San Jose at Utah (+4). The only game on Sunday is Nashville at Las Vegas (+7).

The WNBA season continues this weekend with a full slate of games. Four games tip off on Friday, as Indiana takes on Washington, Detroit heads to New York, Connecticut faces Houston and Minnesota travels to Los Angeles. Three games on Saturday include Chicago at San Antonio, Minnesota at Seattle and Phoenix at Sacramento. Two more follow on Sunday, as Detroit battles Connecticut and New York clashes with Indiana.

Race fans will be busy this Sunday as both NASCAR and Formula 1 take to the track in North America. This weekend NASCAR heads to Pocono Raceway for the Pocono 500. Denny Hamlin dominated Pocono last year but Jimmie Johnson is the favorite to take the checkered flag at 5/1. Points leader Jeff Gordon is next in line at 6/1.

After a few weeks off, Formula 1 returns with the Canadian Grand Prix at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal. Fernando Alonso won last year’s Canadian Grand Prix, but he’ll be challenged by co-points leader Lewis Hamilton this year as he tries to repeat as champ.
