      Kansas City at Tampa Bay
For whatever reason, the Royals seem to feel more comfortable on the road as they've won eight of their last 10 away from Kauffman Stadium while sporting the worst home record (9-21) in MLB. Adding to that comfort level has been the current series with the D-Rays. The Royals have taken the first two games with a 13-run offensive explosion that matches the total number of runs they scored during a current seven-game losing streak at home. Tampa continues to be mired in a slump that has seen the D-Rays drop nine of their last 13. They'll go with the recently called-up J.P. Howell on the mound today, but Howell's first two visits to the big leagues (4-8, 5.79 career mark) does not inspire confidence. The Royals look like the underdog pick (+150) in this one according to Dunkel, which has Kansas City favored straight up by 1 1/2. Dunkel Pick: Kansas City (+150). Here are all of today's games.

Sunday's list of 13: Top prospects for baseball's draft......

This week will be first time the baseball amateur draft is going to be on TV; with that in mind, this is Baseball Amercia's list of the top thirteen prospects for the 2007 Draft.........

                    13) Blake Beavan, 6-7 P, Irving (TX) HS. 18 y/o. Somehow lost two games despite a 0.19 ERA this season.

                    12) Beau Mills, 6-3 3B-1B, Lewis-Clark College (ID). 20 y/o-- Is switch-hitter with 31 homers in JC ball.

                    11) Matt Harvey, 6-4 P, Fitch HS (CT) 18 y/o-- Had only been in five games this spring, when magazine went to press.

                    10) Jarrod Parker, 6-2 P, Norwell HS (IN) 18 y/o. 7-0, 0.20. Has to be hard to project these kids against tougher competition.

                    9) Jason Heyward, 6-2 OF, Henry Co. HS (GA) 17 y/o. None of top 37 prospects on this list are under 6-feet tall.

                    8) Daniel Moskos, 6-1 LHP, Clemson, 21 y/o-- Is 3-4, 2.63 with six saves in 23 games (55 IP) for the Tigers.

                    7) Andrew Brackman, 6-10 P, NC State, 21 y/o-- Played hoop for Wolfpack; has 37 walks in 78 IP, not so good.

                    6) Ross Detwiler, 6-4 LHP, Missouri State, 21 y/o- 4-4, 2.28 in 12 games for Bears (33 walks, 99 strikeouts in 79 IP).

                    5) Mike Moustakas, 6-0 3B-1B, Chatsworth HS (CA)- Switch hitter is hitting .549. Smallest guy on our short list here.

                    4) Rick Porcello, 6-5 P, Seton Hall Prep (NJ), 18 y/o- Seems to be lot of high school pitchers from cold weather spots on list.

                    3) Josh Vitters, 6-3 3B, Cypress HS (CA)-- 17 y/o-- Hitting .371 in high school; so why is he so high on this list?

                    2) Matt Wieters, 6-5 C, Georgia Tech, 21 y/o-- Switch-hitting catcher hitting .376. Jason Varitek was a catcher for Ga Tech.

                    1) David Price, 6-5 P, Vanderbilt 21 y/o. 9-0, 2.91 pitching in a tough conference. 26 walks, 149 strikeouts. If Devil Rays do not draft this kid, it would be very surprising.

                      Sunday Night Baseball

                      Sunday, June 3

                      ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                      Sunday Night Baseball:
Game: New York Yankees at Boston Red Sox

                      Line: -133, 10

                      Banking on Beckett

At 8-0, Josh Beckett has the best pitching record in baseball and on Sunday night the Red Sox look to him for a series win over the Yankees, who send Andy Pettitte to the mound.

Beckett came back from a spell on the disabled list and earned a 4-2 win over the Indians on Tuesday, becoming the 10th Red Sox pitcher to win his first eight decisions in a season.

Ironically, the last Sox player to manage that was Roger Clemens, who famously went 14-0 at the start of the 1986 season. Beckett looked sharp in his start against the Indians and allowed only three hits and two runs while striking out seven.

Beckett won his only previous start against the Yankees this season, but it was also his worst performance of the year. The right-hander allowed five runs and nine hits through 6 1/3 innings in a 7-5 victory. He is 3-2 with an 8.44 ERA in five career regular-season starts against New York.

                      Yankees season hits a low-ell

In recent seasons David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez have done their share of damage against the Yankees, but so far this year Mike Lowell has been their biggest problem.

In last night’s 11-6 win for the Sox, Lowell had three hits, including a home run and four RBIs as Boston bounced back from Friday night’s loss. He is batting .389 (15-for-39) with team highs of four homers and 13 RBIs in 11 games this season against the Yankees.

Lowell didn’t just hurt the Yankees with his bat last night; he was also involved in a nasty run-in at first base. During a key play in the fifth inning, he collided with Doug Mientkiewicz, forcing the first baseman out of the game with mild concussion and a cervical sprain. Mientkiewicz spent the night in the hospital for observation and will be placed on the 15-day DL.

Lowell also slammed his right shoulder into second baseman Robinson Cano in the fourth inning while attempting to break up a double play and he says the Yankees cannot complain about that one. "They taught me how to do it," said Lowell, who spent his first four professional seasons in the Yankees organization.

                      Saluting the streak

Last night at Fenway Park, the inevitable finally happened. In the bottom of the eight inning, Kevin Youkilis trotted to first after his third walk of the day, ending a career-high 23-game hitting streak. The grateful Red Sox fans sounded their appreciation as the entire stadium (the home fans at least) gave him a standing ovation as the made his way to first base.

"It was great," said Youkilis. "It shows how much the fans are into the game and understand the game. They've been very supportive of us all year."

During the streak Youkilis managed a .426 average (43-for-101) while adding six homers, 13 doubles, 21 RBIs, 21 runs and a .468 on-base percentage.

Even with the count 3-1 in his final at-bat, Youkilis resisted the temptation to have a swing and try to extend the streak – instead choosing to take the base on balls for the good of his team.

"You don't know me if you're asking me that question," said Youkilis. "I don't swing at balls. That's not a pitch I can hit on 3-1. I'm looking fastball and he threw a slider. I'm not going to chase a pitch on 3-1."

                      Classic rematch

As intense as the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry is, tonight’s two starting pitchers have faced each other before on an even bigger stage: Game 6 of the 2003 World Series.

Beckett (pitching for the Florida Marlins at the time) fired a complete-game shutout in the Series clincher. That overshadowed Pettitte’s two runs allowed, one of which was unearned, over seven innings.

The Yankees starter will take nothing for granted tonight, having faced Beckett back then: "I’ve seen him pitch on the biggest stage against me and throw a shutout. You know what the kid is capable of doing."

Pettitte has allowed three earned runs or fewer in his last six starts, but he’s 2-3 over that stretch. The Yankees have scored two runs or fewer in the three defeats.
